Dear Parents and Friends,
This term is certainly going at a quick pace. It is hard to believe we are heading into Week 8. There is still a lot of exciting activities happening before we can catch our breath and think about Christmas.
We have now got a plan for our library and we are very excited! I am planning to order the furniture/book shelves in the next week or so, with the aim to be ready by February 2025. I am so looking forward to seeing the end result of the library refurbishment. We do have chairs that would make great study chairs if you would like to purchase one. $20.00.
Our last transition session is next Thursday where the Foundation 2025 children will meet their teacher and receive a little suprise from school.
Last week at our transition session the cutest thing happened. One of the girls said “Thank you Mrs Sprinkles” instead of Miss Eccles - I think that might be Lauren’s name from now on!!
Our children have completed their 5 friends google doc this week and the staff have looked at class placements for the first time on Tuesday night. Just a reminder that we can guarantee one friend from their list. Our first Transition session is next Wednesday 27th November at 2.15pm . Please remember this is a first run only and changes will be made. The teacher taking this class and the students in the class will not necessarily be the class your child will be in next year. During the transition sessions, staff give feedback as to how the children interacted with each other which will assist with the formation of our 2025 classes.
A great big thank you to:
Clare L (Alice Foundation 2025 and Chloe’s mum) for offering to be the class representative for Foundation next year.
Giselle S (Arian Year 1 2025) for offering to be the class representative for Year 1/2 next year
We still need another representative for the Year 1/2 , 2 representatives for the 3/4 level and 3 for the 5/6 level.
We also need one or more Social and Fundraising representatives for next year.
Please email me or come and see me if you are interested in taking on these roles
Our Christmas Carols are fast approaching - our children have been busy caroling away during Performing Arts and are nearly ready to perform for you all. Our Carols will commence at 5pm.
We have some great raffle prizes to be drawn on the night:
Golf voucher for 4 people for Woodlands golf course valued at $1,200
Gift Voucher from St Brigid’s to go towards school fees valued at
Mark Dreyfus Hamper
We will have a sausage sizzle, choc tops, lolly bags and fairy floss to purchase on the night or you may bring your own picnic. Please note all food purchases will be cash only. We will have some market stalls for you to purchase candles, cards, jewellery etc.
We start our Annual St Vincent Christmas Food Drive on Monday 2nd December. Please remember to bring in your food donations so we can help and support the families in need in the Mordialloc area. The local chapter of St Vinnie's is particularly short of soap, toothpaste, shampoo, pasta sauce, biscuits and general groceries such as toilet paper, tooth brushes, nappies, deodorant, tinned fruit, tea bags, coffee, milo and sugar.
St Vinnies would also really appreciate anything that you could use on a Christmas Table - Christmas pudding, mince pies, serviettes, bon bons.
Please check the 'use by' date on all items donated.
Friday 6th December is the last day to bring your food items. On this day all students will be able to wear thier Christmas casual clothes. This coinsides with our Christmas Fun Afternoon so remember to wear a splash of Christmas! Remember that you must wear closed toe shoes eg runners.
Our School Advisory Council will be holding our AGM on Wednesday 4th December. The AGM will go from 6pm - 6.45pm. All are welcome to attend.
Position Vacant - Our Social and Fundraising committee are retiring at the end of the year so if anyone is interested in this position please email me or come and see me. Thank you in advance.
A reminder to families that all medication for Students must be brought to the office and it must be accompained by a Medication Authority form. Please see below.
Our Year 5 students are looking forward to their last Mordialloc Preschool visits next week. The Mordialloc Kinder groups will visit us on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
We have some safety concerns for children coming into the school via the front office.
We have observed some children being dropped off in the staff carpark and cars reversing out of the driveway. The Staff Carpark has become increasingly busy over the last few weeks during morning drop off and afternoon pick up. The staff car park is NOT a student drop off zone and reversing out of the driveway is very dangerous at such a busy time of the day.
If you are dropping your child/children and do not intend to get out of the car, please use the Kiss and Go Zones located on Chute Street or alternatively park your car in a legal car park and bring your child/ren into school.
Children who are dropped off in Albert Street and who enter through the Office must walk into school via the footpath not the carpark driveway.
Our children are such wonderful role models to each other. We had our Remembrance Day Liturgy service on Monday and all of our students were so incredibly respectful. Our Year 5 students were outstanding with how they read at the service.
We have been advised by Nforma (the platform used for our Student Reporting) that parents will now be able to access Student Reports via an Nforma App. It is important that all families download this App. Please see instructions below. Moving forward this will mean all information about your child is in one place. If you have any problems please email Arch Cochrane - acochrane@sbmord.catholic.edu.au.
What a fantastic day we had today! We were amazed by everyone's fantastic Italian Day outfits and everyone certainly enjoyed their pizza and gelato lunch! A BIG GRAZIE to Signora Talarico. So much planning and effort goes into a day like today! By the smiles on everyone's faces we know everyone thoroughly LOVED Italian Day! A big thank you also to our band of merry Parent Helpers who assisted with getting the pizza out to all our bambinos!
A dear friend of mine runs an annual fundraiser to raise money for Child Brain Cancer Research. Daniela has been hosting this event for 13 years. A number of ex-parents of St Brigid’s have also been amazing supporters of this event. They are conducting this fundraiser at our school this year, so if you have a spare half an hour please feel free to come in and have a look at the amazing auction pieces they have to offer.
It's not too late to join us TONIGHT for our very informative Cyber Safety evening.
We really encourage families to attend. Please use this link to register.
