📚 Library
This week, all books need to be returned to the library and there will be no more borrowing for the year. Library bags will come home with your child to be washed and put away for next year.
Please check your bookshelves or under beds for any WPPS library books (look for the barcode on the back or the WPPS stamp inside the cover).

CURRICULUM
📚 Phonemic awareness: reading and phonics
This will be our last week of formal UFLI lessons. Next week, we will revise some of the more challenging concepts that have been taught.
Students will complete two UFLI sessions this week (4 lessons and an assessment).
Students will learn to read and spell words with the 'le' ending and then complete a review of taught ending patterns.
Students will work with their fluency partner to read aloud and practise smooth reading.
What can you do at home?
-Assist your child to read their 'take home' book each night
-Help your child learn to read and spell their Heart Words
-Explore the Reading Eggs library and Fast Phonics to read decodable texts
-Continue to revise sounds on the sound/letter ring

📝 Literature: reading responses and writing
The mentor text will be Sing me the Summer by Jane Godwin.Students will use this text to write their own mini version of the book. They will also complete a reflection of their swimming week.
Students will continue to practise handwriting of lower and upper case letter using taught formations. They will revise number formations too.
What can you do at home?
-Reinforce correct entry and exit points for letters if your child writes at home
-Provide authentic opportunities for your child to write at home eg. writing birthday cards, shopping lists and keeping score in games.
🔢 Maths
Students will complete some assessments for reports. They will also revise concepts of place value of teen numbers and beyond.
What can you do at home?
-Continue to read numbers in your environment
-Practise writing numbers at home, ensuring that numbers are not reversed!
🌏 CBL - Curiosity
Students will celebrate their favourite discovery by researching and presenting a poster (digital or on paper).
👯 Friendology
Students will revisit the lesson on sharing. We will read The Rainbow Fish and think about the times we need to share and when it's OK not to share.
