Things to remember….
Our Foundation class Bible lessons this term are being guided by our Assembly theme, “Things to remember….”.
Over the last two weeks, we have been learning that we are loved by God and that we are all children of God. Foundation students were invited to reflect on how much their own parents love them. Following this, they imagined how much more their Heavenly Father loves them. Using the Bible Verse, “See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are!” 1 John 3:1 (NLT)
Using their imagination, students drew a picture of God as their Father and took their work home to share what they had learnt with their families.

Releasing our Monarch Butterflies
The Year 1 and 2 classes at Brooklyn Park are learning about what plants and animals need to survive. In Week 1 and 2 we patiently waited for each class to observe the exciting arrival of our very own Monarch butterflies. We were pleased to see that the chrysalis was not only green but also had some gold markings around it which was quite beautiful.
Once the chrysalis had turned dark brown our majestic butterflies emerged. Class 1/2 Grosvenor named their girl butterfly ‘Flame’ and class 1 Brockbank named theirs ‘Harry’ which turned out to be a boy. Year 2 Keating is eagerly waiting for ours to appear and have named him or her ‘Thunder’.
We now know that the best place for most living things is in their own environment where they will have access to air, water, food and appropriate shelter, not in a glass. Flame and Harry are now happily feeding on the neighbourhood nectar before they make the long journey home to One Tree Hill.
