Matthew wins National History Challenge with powerful essay on Vietnam War refugees
Congratulations to Matthew (Year 10) for being named the National Winner of the National History Challenge in the Asia and Australia category!
Matthew’s winning entry, a research essay titled “Refugees in the Vietnam War,” stood out among thousands of student submissions across Australia. This year’s Challenge theme, “Crisis and Response,” inspired students to explore pivotal moments in history with insight and depth.
As a part of this incredible achievement, Matthew has earned an all-expenses-paid trip to Canberra to receive his award and cash prize on 25 November.
Matthew's hard work and dedication are a testament to what can be achieved through curiosity and a passion for learning.
The National History Challenge encourages students to explore history through research and inquiry-based learning, deepening their understanding of the past and its relevance to the present.
Year 10 Students receive Second Prize in Saftagram Competition
Our two Year 10 students, Leah and Susannah, have been awarded second prize in the Saftagram 2024 Competition. They created a short video aimed at convincing Parisians to stay in Paris during the Olympic Games, which took place earlier this year.
The competition included schools from across the state, and their video was showcased during a grand ceremony, highlighting their dedication, effort, and creativity.
Additionally, Year 8 students Millicent, Sophie, Tiam, and Victoria received an honorable mention of 'très bien' in the Year 7/8 group poetry recitation category of 2024.
During their recitation, they demonstrated remarkable dedication and precision in their pronunciation and presentation.
Well done to our wonderful students!
