CURRICULUM FOCUS

We are learning to construct angles using a protractor.

VOCABULARY

Protractor: A protractor can be used to measure angles as well as draw angles of a specific measure.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Objective: Visualize and draw angles by thinking of a clock.

Steps:

1) Draw a clock face and use the position of the clock hands to estimate angles. Example: 3 o'clock to 12 o'clock makes a 90° angle, 3 o'clock to 1 o'clock is around 30°, and 3 o'clock to 2 o'clock is around 60°.

2) Assist your child to draw lines that match the clock hand positions and then label the angles.
