5/6 Sport

Hooptime Basketball

SJV selected two teams to attend the District Hooptime event last Friday.  Our students were super enthusiastic about spending the day playing basketball against the other schools from our district.  Once again, we displayed outstanding team work and sportsmanship throughout the day which was very successful.

Our Rookie team played 4 games and won 3 and only lost the other match by 2 points.  Our Future Stars team won all of their pool matches and their semi-final.  In a tough, low scoring grand final we went down by 4 points.

Overall, another great day of sport for our students in years 5 & 6, where we consistently play well, show great team spirit and sportsmanship whether we win, lose or draw! Well done to everyone involved!

Monash Waverley Division Hot Shots Tennis

Division Hot Shots team
Division Hot Shots team

In Term 1, by winning at the District Gala Days, the A-team for Hot Shots Tennis qualified to compete at Division. On Monday, the tennis team went to Nottinghill Tennis Club to represent SJV in the tournament and finished up in 3rd place. During our time at Division, we played against different primary schools such as Mount Waverley, St. Lukes, Essex Heights, Pinewood, Mount View, Huntingtower, and Clarinda. All schools were fun to play against and were different in their own way. They all performed well, and SJV was able to beat 5 schools out of the 7 schools in the competition. In the end, we were all very happy and proud of the hard work we had put in.

Mount View came in at first place, followed by Essex Heights and us in 3rd. Our hard work paid off and as a result we placed well. Even though we didn’t quite make it through to the finals, we are super proud of our efforts and resilience. We showed great sportsmanship by being responsible when losing, and respectful towards others.
