Beach STEAM  in 1/2

Term 4 in 1/2  is always exciting with the commencement of our Beach STEAM program. Our first experience involved travelling to Point Nepean National Park on our ‘Bluey Bus’ driven by Mrs O’Shannassy.  We were so excited to see an echidna walking along the road on our way there, and for many students this was their highlight. We met two rangers and Mrs Byrne who shared their expertise about the surrounding environment.  We then got to go on a ‘planting treasure hunt’ where we had to look for little pots that we could then plant.  This was very special as it contributed to the ‘Restore The Moonah Woodlands Project’.  It was a fabulous experience and we had a wonderful time.

The students were asked what was their favourite part of our morning?

Hao Hao - When I dug the dirt onto the plants, I liked it because it finished the planting.

Ned - It was fun because we got to find a plant to dig in and make more trees.

Leo - I liked pulling the plant out of the tub and planting it,

Hamish BR - I loved planting the plants in the ground.

Goldie - I liked it when we found the plants, dug a hole and put them in.

Aniela - I learnt to dig a medium hole and take care of the plants.

Alexander - I liked it at Point Nepean because we could plant the plants.

Flossy - I liked burying the plants and I learnt how to put them in the soil.

Knox - My favourite thing was when we went down the path and got to do planting with our partner.

Lillianne - I learnt that it is very good to look after the plants because there are not many Moonah trees left and we need lots of trees to make the world a better place.

Skyla - We need to plant more plants to help the environment to be more safe.

Toby - I had lots of fun and I liked being with my friends when we were gardening plants.

Adelle - There are Moonah trees at Point Nepean and now there are only 8 percent left.

Saoirse - I loved going on the bus and we saw an echidna.  Mrs O’Shannessy stopped the bus so we could look out at it and it was so cute.

Issy - I liked planting because we were all running around to try to find a plant and it was hard to find them.

Indie - I learnt that we had to dig a hole that was a little bit bigger than the size of the plant, then we had to put it in and bury it.

Joe - We learnt how to plant little trees.

Levi - I loved the part when we learnt all about the indigenous stuff.

Evie - We learnt about the Moonah trees and that there are only 8 percent left.

Aleesha - My favourite part was looking at the echidna from the bus and my second favourite part was planting the plants.

Annika - My favourite part was when we drove on the bus and when we got there we looked at the camping site.  We got to plant the plants.

Kai - I liked finding the plants that were hidden.

Arlo - It was fun because I got to plant my own tree.

Willow - We did some planting and had to wear gloves and glasses. I really liked it.

Hamish M - I liked how it was satisfying when you took the plants out and all the roots were there.  It was cool.

Hugo - I liked it when we saw an echidna on the way and we got to plant for a long time.

Riley - I loved how it was like a scavenger hunt and I loved the drive there.

Phoenix - I liked driving there and seeing the echidna and I also loved knowing I was helping the environment by planting the trees.

Conor - I liked driving because it was fun seeing the echidna wobble

Noah - I loved how we saw the echidna and I liked planting the trees so we could make more oxygen so we can breathe.
