VOCABULARY
Inferential Question: questions that require us to use text clues and prior knowledge to make an inference.
Literal Question: questions that require concrete answers that can be found in the text.
Inference: a conclusion reached by using text clues and prior knowledge
ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING
Have your child read a fiction text and write down any questions they have as they read.
Have your child categorise if it is an inferential or literal question and have a go at answering the question using evidence from the text or making an inference.
