GPF News: Girton's Got Heart

Girton's Got Heart

In a heartwarming display of community solidarity, Girton’s Got Heart was held on Friday 18 October, bringing Girton parents and carers together for a night of fun, connection and generosity at the beautiful Chateau Dore. The evening had a sense of community spirit, raising much-needed funds for Annie North, a local organisation that supports women and families escaping domestic violence.

The evening kicked off with mingling, a cocktail-style dinner and speeches, to the background sounds of Sean K’s acoustic guitar. As the night progressed, Sean put on his DJ hat and the dance floor became hot property.

A highlight of the fundraiser was the silent auction, featuring an array of exciting items donated by generous local businesses, ranging from gift baskets filled with gourmet treats, to incredible artwork and experiences like therapeutic massages. The auction attracted a great deal of attention, with bidding wars breaking out as attendees eagerly supported both the cause and local enterprises.

Adding an element of surprise to the evening was the 'lucky dip wine wall', where guests could purchase a mystery bottle of wine, contributing to the total fundraising effort. This fun twist kept the excitement high and encouraged even more participation.

Thanks to the willingness of the Girton parent community to dig deep, the event not only met but exceeded its fundraising goals. Friends of Junior School and the GPF are pleased to report that $8,000 will be donated to Annie North, ensuring vital resources are available for women and children seeking refuge and support from domestic and family violence.

The success of this fundraiser demonstrates the power of our Girton community coming together for a very important cause. The organising committee would like to extend a huge thank you to the generous sponsors and donors. Their contributions played a vital role in making Girton's Got Heart 2024 such a success. We encourage everyone to support these businesses in the future.

We look forward to seeing you at Girton’s Got Heart 2026!
