La Vuelta de Newlands
Ride2School Day Success
Buenos tardes familias de Newlands,
What a fantastic morning we had celebrating La Vuelta de Newlands at our school last Friday. It was amazing to see so many students riding, scooting and walking to school, all coming together to promote active and healthy lifestyles.
From the moment students arrived, the bottom oval was full of colour, energy and excitement. Bikes and scooters were beautifully decorated, with many students proudly representing their House colours and creative themes inspired by Spanish-speaking countries.
Our Health and Movement Leaders and House Leaders did an outstanding job supporting families in the morning, helping students park safely and making sure everything ran smoothly from the start.
The parade itself was a highlight. Watching students ride together in their House groups created a real sense of community and celebration. The class laps that followed were full of enthusiasm, with teachers joining in and riding alongside students, adding to the positive atmosphere across the whole school.
A special mention to our Foundation students and their Year 5/6 buddies. It was fantastic to see the older students supporting and encouraging their buddies during the final lap. This was a really calm and joyful moment that reflected the strong connections within our school.

We were also very grateful for the support of our parent volunteers. Your help with marshalling, supporting different stations and ensuring student safety made a huge difference. Thank you to everyone who gave their time to support the event.
Throughout the track, the fun stations added an extra level of excitement, with music, colours and cheering creating a real “race” feeling across the oval.
During assembly, we celebrated the incredible effort students put into decorating their bikes and scooters. The creativity on display was impressive, and it was great to recognise students for their effort and enthusiasm.
Most importantly, the day highlighted the positive impact of active transport on our health, wellbeing and the environment. It was great to see so many students engaged, active and enjoying being outdoors together.
Thank you to all students, families and staff for making La Vuelta de Newlands such a success. We are already looking forward to next year.
¡Hasta la próxima vuelta!
