Harmony Week 2026
Classes celebrated Harmony Week with several cultural activities, music, displays etc. and many of our students also enjoyed wearing their traditional clothes to school for a day!
Harmony Week in Y3
During Weeks 7 and 8, we celebrated Harmony Week, embracing the theme 'Everyone Belongs.' The celebrations began with a vibrant Harmony Day assembly, where our school community gathered stories to share and reflected on respect, inclusion and the importance of belonging. This was followed by a whole school picnic lunch, where students and staff enjoyed their meals together and strengthened connections across our diverse community. Throughout the week, students explored cultural dolls and books in the library, deepening their understanding of different backgrounds. In the classroom, Harmony Week activities encouraged conversations about diversity and inclusion.
Government House - Y6
Y6 students went to the city as part of our Civics and Citizenship work. We visited Government House and had a guided tour. We were very lucky to meet the governor, Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC. She shared how bills are signed and was very impressed with the knowledge our student’s shared.
We also learnt that when the Queen visited a place, when she was ready to leave she placed her hand bag on her left arm, just like the statue in Government House gardens. We had a great day.
Room R5 (Reception)
Students have been settling into school routines and learning what it means to be ready to learn each day. They have also begun a Science unit on living things, observing and sorting plants and animals in our environment through hands-on investigations and recording what living things need to grow and stay healthy.
Room R1 (Year 1)
Students have been settling into routines and practising R1’s key expectations: Be Kind, Be Safe, Be Helpful, and Never Give Up. They are exploring growth mindset and what it means to be a good friend through Play is the Way's Golden Rule. Students are building personal recount writing skills and strengthening number fluency through fun counting and numeral activities.
Room B2 (Year 2)
This term, B2 has loved learning about Lunar New Year—exploring traditions, making lanterns, and receiving a lucky red envelope. We’ve also enjoyed welcoming new classmates and settling into our new classroom routines.
Room O2 (JP Special Options)
This term our integrated topic has been all about bears - learning about different types of bears, where they live, and what they eat, with lots of sensory and hands-on activities. Students have loved creating brown bear and polar bear artworks for our Bear wall. In Maths, we are exploring repeating patterns, including our favourite 'Pattern Caterpillars' activity.
Room G2 (Years 3-4)
Students have been highly engaged in our class novel Matilda, enjoying rich discussions about characters, themes and new vocabulary. They have also loved caring for our class pet, Mrs Stick (a spiny leaf stick insect), and learning about her life cycle and unique adaptations.
Room G3 (Years 4-5)
In G1, students are using The Thing About Oliver to inspire narrative writing and build rich characters and settings. In Science, we’re exploring how animals and humans have adapted over time, and in Maths we’re strengthening the four operations and practising telling time using am and pm.
Room G4 (Primary Special Options)
Students have been getting to know each other and our school routines while learning about emotions and strategies we can use to support ourselves and others. They also explored bookmaking and had a go at being authors, creating their very own books.
Room Y6 (Year 6)
In Mathematics, students are investigating number properties (including prime, composite, square and triangular numbers) and applying operations and integers to problem-solving tasks. In Science, they are exploring Forces and Energy, with a focus on renewable energy and sustainability and how different energy sources affect environments. In Technology, students are using Scratch for design and coding, and are also supporting younger students to build confidence logging on and using Chromebooks.
Room Y2 (Reception IEL)
Students have begun the term with an 'All About Me' unit, learning vocabulary for body parts, likes and dislikes, and family members, leading into writing their own descriptions. They also celebrated Lunar New Year with music, movement and craft activities, including lanterns and stamps.
Room Y1 (Years 1-3 IEL)
Students are learning to write clear procedures, using command sentences and adding detail with adjectives and adverbs - linking this to our daily school routines. In Science, we are exploring the sun and the moon, and in Maths our focus is number, including early addition strategies and problem solving. We have also been learning about kindness and safety and enjoyed celebrating Lunar New Year together.
Room Y3 (Years 3-6 IEL)
Students are developing writing skills through personal recounts and descriptive writing (including 'All About Me' and family member descriptions), with extension students beginning autobiographies. In Mathematics, the focus is on number concepts such as place value and the four operations through hands-on tasks and targeted lessons. In Science, students are investigating living things, including human body systems and the adaptations that help plants and animals survive.
