Container deposit scheme- donations needed

The Sustainability groups’ action from our Resource Smart school summit was to raise money through the container deposit scheme for animal nesting boxes. We are asking for donations from the community of the containers participating in the scheme to help us achieve our goal of raising $200 to buy the boxes. Thank you to Erin (Elliot’s dad from Prep A) who works at Werribee Zoo and who is going to make the boxes for us. He has also given us advice on which animals are most likely to be successful at Wales Street and the Sustainability group will make a decision based on his advice. Erin makes nesting boxes of various sizes if you are interested in having one in your backyard and attracting some native birds and animals.

The Sustainability group have prepared a box for donations that will be situated just outside the office and would be grateful for any bottles you can spare. Thank you to the families who have donated cans and bottles already- we have raised close to $25 so far.

Tree project

Our little seedlings are getting bigger and I will shortly be thinning them out and transplanting them to ensure we have enough to give to Tree project. We may also have enough to supplement planting at school or selling to our community to raise money for other Sustainability group projects. If anyone has any black seedling tubes (40 cm long) at home they could spare, we would be very grateful!

Yours in sustainability,
