Principals Report

Dear Parents and Carers

As we head into the colder weeks of Term 2, a few reminders to help keep our students comfortable and ready for learning:

Warm Clothing & Spare Clothes

Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. A named coat is essential for chilly mornings and outdoor play. For our younger students, we also recommend packing a change of socks, pants, and underwear in their bags. With wet play equipment and occasional muddy patches, this small preparation can save a lot of discomfort!

Attendance Matters

While we understand that illness is unavoidable at times, we encourage families to prioritise regular school attendance. Every day of learning counts, and building consistent routines helps our students stay connected and confident in their learning. Of course, if your child is genuinely unwell, it’s best they rest and recover at home.

Education Week

It was fantastic to see so many families come into classrooms for Education Week. Our students get a real 'buzz' out of showcasing their learning.

TheirCare

Last week we said farewell to Betty who has been the before and afterschool coordinator since TheirCare took over our programs last year in Term 2. We thank Betty for all her hard work and we know the kids will miss her. We wish Betty well as she starts working at another school.

Friendship Day:

On Wednesday, all students enjoyed participating in a 'Day of Friendship' with Tyson Greenwood from URSTRONG. This day was a culmination of the program that grades had worked through in term 1 and is revisited throughout the year as needed. Tyson reinforced lessons from its 'Friendology' curriculum, that gives students the skills and strategies needed to be better friends and navigate friendship challenges in a positive and healthy way. A series of ‘Friendship Facts’ helped students to set realistic expectations; for example, Fact #1: Friendships change, and Fact #2: No friendship is perfect!

Using simple language and grounded in the principles of Positive Psychology, URSTRONG empowers students to successfully navigate friendship challenges. Through our Wellbeing program, staff deliver the ’Friendology’ curriculum to explicitly teach students how to develop healthy friendships and manage conflict respectfully - a skill they will use for the rest of their lives.

As educators, parents and advocates for young people, we know that friendships are the most important relationships for our students. They are at the heart of wellbeing and learning. By supporting and coaching our students to get them right, we know that their experiences at school and in life will become richer and more valuable.

Please join our parent-child 'Language of Friendship' zoom meeting next Thursday 5th June at 6:30pm if your are able.

Update Your Emergency and Contact Information

Throughout the year, changes can occur—new addresses, updated phone numbers, or changes to emergency contacts. We know that some families have recently moved or changed numbers, so now is a great time to check that your contact details are up to date.

In the event of a real emergency, the school communicates via Compass to parents. It’s essential that we have the correct mobile number and email addresses on file to ensure you receive important updates promptly.

If a student is unwell, injured, or not collected at the end of the day, and we are unable to reach a parent, we will call the listed emergency contact. That’s why it’s so important to notify the school of any changes as soon as they happen.

If you’re unsure whether your details are current, please feel free to call the office—we’re happy to check for you. To update your information, simply email the school with the new details.
