From the Principal's Desk

Welcome to Week 6, Term 2!
As we head into the latter end of Term 2, the weather is getting cooler and lots of sickness is circulating. We thank the families who have been diligent around illness, keeping children home when they're unwell. We do miss seeing everyone's bright and happy faces daily but know students will return when they are healthy and ready to do so.
This term has been full of many extra-curricular activities and exciting enrichment opportunities for our students. In this newsletter we will share our recent events, and look forward to the upcoming activities of Term 2: ASC STEM Day (Stage 3), Weekly gymnastics, weekly NECOM music & orchestra lessons, UNE Discovery incursion, North West Cross Country, Colour the Earth Art Camp (High Potential Stage 3 students), Stage 3 Debating competition commences, visit to McMaugh Gardens, ACOS Massed Choir rehearsals, School Spelling Bee and 100 Days of learning on the last day of this term!! We have lots to look forward to and I'm keen to see our students ending the term strong with positive behaviour and high engagement in all school learning experiences and activites.
PSSA Zone Cross Country
Congratulations to our PSSA Zone Cross Country competitors who displayed grit and determination to compete and represent themselves, our school and alliance of small schools, with pride. Congratulations to Elyse who competed in the Multi-Class Junior Girls category, who has progressed to the North West Cross Country round in Coolah. We are very proud of you, Elyse!
Armidale Eisteddfod
Our Stage 2 and 3 students competed in two items at the Small Country Schools Armidale Eisteddfod, held at Lazenby Hall in Week 4. Our students performed two beautiful songs as a choir and delivered a class ensemble item. Thank you to Jess, our wonderful vocal tutor from NECOM who prepared our students and led the items on the day.
Tillbuster Wind Ensemble
Last night, our talented students: Phoebe, Henry, Harrison C, Anna and Ivory performed their ensemble item at the Armidale Eisteddfod Band Night. Mr Ridley attended the night, especially enjoying the Tillbuster Wind Ensemble's opening performance. I'd like to commend all students on the discipline and commitment they demonstrate to be apart of this musical group, and a special commendation to Harrison C on his confident delivery of the introductory speech that he made at the event.
Reading Notifications on School Bytes
All of our communication to families goes out via our School Bytes app, please be vigilant in reading notifications to keep up to date with what is happening at our school and submitting any permission forms that are posted. Absences can be submitted via the app too which ensures a smooth process for families and school staff.
If you have any questions regarding the app there is a user guide available on the parent portal or you can phone the school on 67784122.
Stage 2 and Stage 3 Major Excursions
Last week on the parent portal in School Bytes, we shared preliminary information regarding Stage 2 and Stage 3 major excursions coming up next term (camps). Could parents please notify us if they have missed this specific message, or are unable to view the information in the feed.
Breakfast Club
Thank you to Amy at Moon's Bakery in Uralla for the generous donations of bread which are fueling our breakfast club this term! Foodbank unfortunately did not have the stock required to supply us with bread, so Amy jumped at the chance to support this initiative at our school. Breakfast club keeps our student's topped up with breaky or a morning snack before heading into class, which helps with focus and readiness to learn in the classroom.
Uralla Central Year 7 Transition Day
Some of our Year 6 students attended the Uralla Central School Year 7 Transition Day last Wednesday. It was wonderful to have this opportunity to use a high school timetable, and experience what Uralla Central School has to offer for prospective students. There was lots of excitement coming back from the day, with conversation around how enjoyable Food Tech was, where the students made their own lunch for the day - the best burgers in town apparently!
Kindergarten Enrolments 2026
We are now enrolling for Kindergarten 2026. If you are thinking of enrolling your child to start school next year, or know someone who is interested, please contact our school office (02) 6778 4122 or pop in for a visit any time! We will be releasing some transition to Kindergarten dates and times soon for all students planning to enrol at Rocky River next year and look forward to welcoming lots of smiling, new faces!
Next Assembly
Our next assembly is in Week 9, Friday 26th June at 2:15pm. We look forward to seeing families there!
