Expert Robotics

Every Thursday lunchtime, some Year 5 and 6 students gather in the STEM room to create and code robots using LEGO Spike. 

 

Each year, Victorian schools have the opportunity to enter the RoboCup competition. Our school has chosen to participate in the RoboCup event held in Kew, continuing a tradition from previous years.

The RoboCup competition challenges students to design, build, and program a robot to complete a specific task. 

Students can select from the following challenges:

  • On Stage

  • Rescue Line

  • Rescue Maze

  • Soccer

  • Spike Prime Challenge

This exciting experience helps students develop STEM skills through hands-on learning and friendly competition.

In conclusion, next year for all Year 4 & 5 students, if you are an expert at hardware/coding, this is the club for you.

 

Yucheng, Sathvik and Adrian (Rescue Maze)

What you have done so far?   

'We have finished the robot and most of the code, now we are starting to test the robot'. What you are liking in Rescue Maze?

What you are looking forward to?

'Coming first'. 

 

Georgios and Ethan (Soccer)

What you have done so far?

'Since the start of the year, we have been working on our robots and programming it to go to where the ball is. We have constructed and programmed the robots so they will work. It has challenged our thinking'.

What you are looking forward to? 

'We are looking forward to entering the championship and winning the championship'.

 

Kira and Ananya (On Stage)

What you have done so far?

'So far in Expert Robotic we have built our robot designs and begun building our code. We are having lots of fun experimenting with the robots and starting our code'. 

What you are looking forward to?

'I am looking forward to seeing the final results and my robot dancing with me'.

 

Kai and Hayden (Rescue Maze)

What we have done so far?

'I have started coding the 'finding the victim' part, obstacle avoidance, and setting the turn radiance'. 

What are you liking in Rescue Maze?

'I have enjoyed creating our robot and using all the sensors to find the different colours'. 

 

Insyia, Olivia, and Aarya (Rescue Maze)

What have you done so far?

'We have coded our push sensor and wall sensor. We are now in the middle of coding our light sensor. That is a little hard, but enjoying needing to problem solve'. 

What are you looking forward to?

'We are looking forward to finishing the coding for our robot and participating in the competition'.
