The senior classes have started the year exploring Deaf culture. We have investigated the positives and negatives of lip-reading as a tool to aid communication, learnt about the importance of eye-gaze, and completed some challenges that give students an opportunity to experience what it might be like to have to communicate and get through a day without sound.

We have had some rich discussions, with students asking thoughtful questions and sharing their experiences.
