Wellbeing and Engagement

Across the school, we have been focussing on routines, setting expectations, reducing cognitive load to support learning, and many other evidence-based practises in our classrooms. Did you know that these also support student wellbeing?

Across the school, in different ways depending on the age of the students, all staff have been supporting students to make connections with peers in and out of their homegroup class and discuss actions and strategies that can support positive friendships. Another huge focus has been on how the school values of Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, Confidence and Honesty can be demonstrated throughout the school day.

This week the staff have further explored how these positive practises support the hand-in-hand relationship between learning and wellbeing, which is a big focus for our school. At BEPS, we aim to embed wellbeing supportive practises into everything we do, as well as explicitly teach different skills or strategies that support social-emotional learning, such as friendships. Our school values have been the central focus, with our students making concrete connections to what the values really look like in our lives, in and out of the classroom.

Check out these examples of some of the ways the values can be shown and lived at school in different subjects and year levels!
