Project Compassion 2026

Last Friday, our Social Justice Leaders, Gus Callinan and Maddie Currie, spoke to our school community about Project Compassion and how we are called to stand in solidarity with those experiencing poverty and injustice.

They shared how small acts of kindness and generosity can create meaningful change when we work together. Project Compassion, led by Caritas Australia, supports vulnerable communities both in Australia and around the world. Through access to education, clean water, healthcare, and sustainable livelihoods, Caritas works alongside communities to help break the cycle of poverty and build hope for the future. Each family received a Project Compassion money box to support this important mission. We encourage families to consider how they might contribute throughout Lent. Every donation, no matter how small, makes a real and lasting difference in the lives of others. Together, we can live out our faith through action and compassion.

The season of Lent

Lent is a special season in the Christian calendar that lasts for 40 days and prepares Christians for Easter.  The 40 days remind us of the 40 days Jesus spent in the desert, where he prayed and prepared for his mission. In the Catholic tradition, Lent is a reflective and sometimes quiet season. The colour purple is used in churches to symbolise repentance and preparation. It is a time to think about how we can turn back to God, make better choices, and live more like Jesus.

Reconciliation family faith night.

Our Reconciliation family faith night for year 3 children will take place on Wednesday, 25th February at 7.00 pm at St Fidelis school hall. St Fidelis will be hosting this event. Families from BMCC Brunswick Moreland Catholic Community, which includes St Joseph's Brunswick West and Our Lady Help of Christian Brunswick East, will join us. This evening will be facilitated by Sarah Smith who is a Catholic Identity and Faith Formation consultant. All year 3 children and parents are invited to attend this event.

Reconciliation retreat day

All year 3 students are invited to participate in a Retreat Day on Thursday, 19th March.  This day is a special day of reflection and preparation for students who are about to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. It is designed to help children deepen their understanding of God’s love, forgiveness and mercy in a meaningful, age-appropriate way.

Celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation

The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be celebrated on Thursday, 19th March at 6.00 pm at St Fidelis Church. We ask that you keep our children in our prayers as they prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Buddy Mass

Our Year 5/6 Foundation buddy mass will take place on Sunday, 15th of March at 11.00 am at St Fidelis church.  This is a great opportunity for our new and existing foundation families to come together and celebrate the beginning of your children's faith journey. All families are invited to the school hall after Mass for a meet and greet and a cup of tea or coffee and juice for the children.
