Year 4 News

The Year 4 students had an amazing time on camp last week! From the moment they arrived, there was a buzz of excitement as they took part in a range of fun and challenging activities designed to build confidence, teamwork and independence.
Students enjoyed everything from flying fox and waterslide to low ropes, archery and team games. For many, it was their first time away from home, and they should feel incredibly proud of how well they supported one another and embraced every experience.
Camp provided a wonderful opportunity for our Year 4s to learn outside the classroom — developing resilience, responsibility, and problem-solving skills in a fun, hands-on environment. We’re so proud of how they represented our school!

Have you ever wondered about how Year 4 camp went? Well I am about to tell you all about it. My group and my group leader Mrs Badley walked all the way to Archery. The lady that was there to teach us how to play Archery was Lauren she was skilled and very nice.
Lauren told use how to hold the Bow. First Lauren said to hold our hands on the grip of the Bow. Then on the Bow there was a metal stick that we had to put agenised our hip. After we put the metal stick agenised our hip we had to get an arrow and put it in between a yellow bead and clip the arrow on so it wouldn't fall off when we shot. We all got 3 turns and 3 arrows.
Archery was so fun one of the best experiences at CAMP ADANAC.

"Wow! I never knew how fun archery was."
Archery was one of my activities. I was nervous as soon as I saw the real bow & arrow. The instructor told me & my group what to do and showed us how many points you could get. (There was a noodle that was 15 points.) Then the instructor put us into mini groups. I was near the end so I watched the other groups.
When it was my turn I put on the arm band and grabbed the bow & arrow and shot my first arrow, as I shot it I realised that the arm band was on the wrong arm, and the rope made my arm go a little red. (But I was fine.) At the end of that round I got 3 points. Later I did another round and got the noddle. YAY!!! Finally we played a couple more rounds. In the end I came 2rd with 41points the person in 1st won by 1point.

'Woosh!' the flying fox went. My favourite activity was the flying fox. It was around 200 meters long!
The instructor was explaining what to do. I was up first she was strapping me in but then I was not allowed to wear shorts because then the harness would not work so I had to go and get pants from my bag. Lacey went first and we all came back with a letter to spell a word. Lacey got A as her letter.
It was my go! I got all strapped in and I was so nervous because it was a bit windy but I pulled it together … Then... I was off I was going so fast with the wind in my face and I was laughing so hard because it was so fun and I didn't know why I was scared! 'Bang' went the flying fox I made it to the bottom. It felt like it was going on for so long.
The guy at the bottom asked us what do we rate it out of 1 to 10. I rated it 9.5 and we had to run back with our gear up a massive hill so all together it was so good! Thank you camp ADANAC!

Zip, as the flying fox shoots someone down but this was not a typical small flying fox this was a big long one. I thought how amazing it looked and knew I had to do that. After a few people went it was my go. Everybody was scared but I was chill because I knew I would have a blast. She screamed next and I thought that’s me. She harnessed me in and told me everything I could do. Here are some of the things - like I could let go, lean back, sing, or do a little dance I was super ready and excited.
I was getting really impatient until she gave me the sign to go. And then leaped of the platform and let go and leaned back the ride was so fast I could barely keep my eyes open as I shot over the lake. And then there was a (bang) as I hit the end of the ride and bounced off. Then she told me how to get down she helped me down. Next, I brought the gear up the big hill which was a bit of an exercise. But as I was walking up the big hill when I got up everyone cheered me on and said I did great. I was proud and I had faced my fears. We watched some more people go down the flying fox some of them let go but some of them didn’t. Overall, we loved our grade 4 camp.

Did you now at camp we had a disco? Now I'll tell you all about it. First everyone went in and it started. There was a mini stage, so everyone was jumping and singing songs.
There were songs like California girls and rock your body and many more. There were lots of led lights and it was dark and exciting.
My friend Finn brought a camera so we got lots of photos and videos. All the boys were in a circle and then one person would go in and hit a little dance. Everyone was really hot and tired from the disco and I even lost my voice. Overall it was the best camp and disco I would so go back.

The tread wall is a game where a rock-climbing wall keeps on moving around and around and there was lots of levels of speed going from 1 to 9.
"Who wants to go first for the tread wall?" Mrs Carter asked. Luca got to go first. When Luca got on the wall it started moving. He was climbing really well and got to the top 4 times. Then it was my turn. I was really scared but I did really well, and I got to the top speed level which was super-fast and still managed to touch the top 10 times! Time ran down before I could touch it an 11th time.
Then everybody else went and then my second turn. I knew I could beat my record, so I shot up like spiderman but since I was doing so well I had to go to the bottom and up again. This time was really hard. I couldn’t stretch my legs to get to the next footstep so I had to use my arm strength to lift my body up and it was really hard. I still got 19 and I was really proud of myself.

We played a game called jug ang jog. You have to get the other team’s stuff like soccer ball footy ball and a bin. If you get the bin to your base you win. And when you get tagged you go down. There is a line through the middle and which side you start the other team cannot tag you. And you need to protect your base and if you are down your teammate can get you up then take you back to your base and then you go back in. I was on a team with Matthew Levi Noah and Luca. The activity was fast and furious, and it was really hot, so we were all pretty tired. One good thing was the water hose was turned on and we got all wet and cooled down.
Overall, camp was really good, and I would definitely go again.

Are you wondering about how good our camp was? Well, I'm here to tell you about one activity I loved. I loved the camp cooking. We were making damper. First we made the dough then we had to roll it into balls that had no cracks. Then we had to go into the forest and find long sticks to put the dough on. Next, we put it over the fire for like 5 minutes while rotating and it was hard to cook the bread underneath, but we found a way. Then they gave us jam to put on our damper. After that I tried my damper, and it tasted yummy, but it had like a smokey flavour at the end that I didn’t really like. Anyway, I loved camp cooking with my friends Levi and Louis.

"You need more BUTTER" Said Mr Bray. Can you guess what we're making? DAMPER!
When we made the dough and it was perfect we all went to the mini table and Mr Bray pinched of a piece of dough for us and we started rolling. Mine was a bit too wet so I added some flour to it and then it was ok, to start putting it on the stick.
When I was ready with my raw damper on the stick I started to hover it over the fire. After a few minutes my damper fell into the FIRE!! I was so disappointed because I had to start my damper again! Luckily Mr Bray had some spare pieces of dough left for us! When I cooked my new damper for a few minutes I lifted up my stick, carefully and then I touched it, and it was burning hot. It was all burnt at the top and then golden at the bottom. When I looked at my old one that was still in the fire getting cooked up it was fully black! I ate some of my damper dipped in the leftover butter and it was good, but it was also a bit bad!

Year 4 went to camp ADANAC and we were there for 3 days, my favourite activity was the waterslide! ( And it was 110m long)We went to the waterslide at 4:00pm and my group was group 2 but the annoying thing was that it was going 6,5,4,3,2,1 so I was second last!
It was still really fun though. To demonstrate Mr. Bray went first.
So, what you had to do was grab a helmet, sit on a flat foam mat then lay on it, cross your arms, grab the mat, then down you go! When it was my turn I was so scared that I was shaking because it was so cold! The most uncomfortable bit was wearing the helmet on the way down, other than that it was so fun! When you went down at first it felt really scary but after a little bit it was so amazing that I can't even explain it! When I got to the bottom it was so cold in the lake but when I got out I felt so ALIVE!!!!! So that was my favourite thing on camp ADANAC! :)

"Zip" as someone went done the flying fox. The year 4's had just arrived at camp ADANAC and my activity group (group of people you do your activities with) had the giant flying fox first. This flying fox was not your typical small at the park flying fox, this flying fox was so big that you were put in a harness and clipped onto it.
I was about 4th in the line, waiting and waiting. Then it was finally my turn as I got my helmet buckled on. 3! 2! 1! And I was off! As I passed the camp cooking site a few metres away from the starting podium, my best friend Liv was cheering me on. As I flew over the lake, I saw the end of the flying fox then… BAM! I hit the end in this catapult like thing then it launched me back, but I was caught by this bar that latches down once you get launched forward.
After, I hauled the metal bit of the flying fox back up the hill. A few more people went and then something unexpected happened, something no one ever thought would happen Mrs Badley (my activity group leader) went down the flying fox! Everyone was cheering. Just between you and me I think she was a little scared. "Ok kids it's time to go to our next activity," said Mrs Badley as she climbed up the hill. That’s the end of the flying fox so sad we only got one turn each.
Overall camp was the best experience of my life.

It was a boiling hot day at camp, and everyone was burning hot. We had just finished our last camp activity for the day, and we all were super exited. Why were we super exited? Well, we were all soon going on the big water slide that was made from concrete and build into a long hill that landed into the big open lake at the other end!
Before we got to go on the water slide Mr Bray went down the waterslide so he was at the bottom of the hill when we came down. How you go down the water slide is you wear a helmet and get wrapped in a blue foam mat lie down and fly out into the lake.
Mr Bray went down the water slide so fast! Everyone clapped and cheered as Mr Bray zoomed down the water slide. And flew of the water slide at the end into the freezing cold open lake.
Since we had activity groups we lined up in our groups. The first group to go down the water slide was group 6. That meant group 1 went last. If you were wondering group 1 was my group was last.
After a long time of waiting it finally was our turn! I felt excited but at the same time nervous. When it was my turn, I lay down in the freezing cold water, wrapped myself in the blue foam mat and zoomed down the water slide! It was very bumpy and cold. At the end I fell into the lake the water was verry cold and there was this big drop at the bottom of the lake! When I got out of the water, I felt warm.
I ran back up the hill to return the blue foam mat and helmet. It was so much fun I wanted to do it again and again!

Are you wondering about how good Year 4 Camp was? Well, unfortunately I can't tell you all about it, but I can tell you about my favourite activity. My favourite activity was Archery. I was so excited on the way down the hill to get there, but from what I could see, there was only one target. Eventually when we got there it was even better than I thought. There were 3 targets!
Mr Bray, our activity group leader, split us in to groups of 2 or 3. First a camp leader told us the instructions, which were, stand on the side, pick up the bow, (And by the way, they were real bow and arrows,) put the bow on our waist, get an arrow, rest on the bow in the right spot, finally, put to the side of your head and, aim and shoot.
Each group would go at a time, so, the groups of 3 would go first, and then the groups of 2. Mr Bray sometimes filled in for the groups of 2, and you would get 3 arrows per turn. If you're also wondering about the scores, it went 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1. There was also a twist, in front of the bullseye (10), there was a hanging pool noodle that was moving, if you hit it, that’s 15 points.
Unfortunately, that’s all I can tell you, but I'm sure some other people have written about all the fun things you could do at camp ADANAC! We had such a great time!

" Yesssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!" At year 4 camp one of my favourite activities was camp cooking. We started cooking from scratch and made dough. Then my activity group shaped the dough into a ball shape. After Mr Bray told us to go get some sticks, one for each of us, when we came bake from getting sticks, we put the dough on to our stick and then cooked the dough like a marshmallow in the fire. It was SUPER fun. The smoke made my eyes water….. A LOT! After the dough was cooked we could put honey or jam on it then eat it, it was sooooo yummy! It was called damper.
"Slap!!!!!!!!!" "There goes the ball!!!!" Everyone is crowding the Ga-Ga pit. If you don't know what Ga-Ga is, it’s a game almost like break the window, but you can move around. If you get hit by the ball on your knee or under you get eliminated and have to get out of the Ga-Ga pit. To start you yell GA-GA!!!!! Hit the ball on the ground (Not too hard) and then you try hit the ball to someone's leg. It was SOOO fun!!

PPSSSSSSHHHH! The water started running down the water slide and everyone was excited. The teachers said, "We will call group by group". Group 6 was up first everybody else not in group 6 played Gaga, cage soccer, jumped on the trampoline or watched group 6. I played cage soccer and watched other people same with group 5. Halfway through group 5 I lined up in the line first for group 4.
When it was my turn, I hopped in the freezing cold water. Hopped on the foam mat and wrapped it around me. I had to lay down. "Alright, are you ready? Get set go" and off I went flying down the water. I was so nervous to get to off I just went flying down and then hit the water in the lake. I knew it was over, so I started walking up to the top of the mountain. I got to the top and gave my blue foam mat back. Afterwards I went to play gaga with most of the year 4s I got 5th out of about 30 people.

Year 4 went to ADANAC camp for 2 nights, and my favourite activity was definitely the…
WATERSLIDE! It was a waterslide that went into the lake at the end. So, when you’re close to the end of the waterslide, you have to hold your breath because you splash in the lake!
To go on the waterslide, you had to wrap yourself up in a foam mat like a burrito. If you sit up on the waterslide, you'll fall off the mat. One funny thing about the waterslide is that Nora sat up and slid off the mat, so she landed in the lake without a mat!
It was my turn near the end of the whole line, so I had to watch so many other people go down the waterslide. But luckily, we had good weather. It was about 29 degrees.
When it was my turn, I felt a bit nervous. The water was cold when I was wrapping myself up. But when you were going down, you had to breathe hard. When I got to the end I splashed in the lake. It felt quite cold. When I got out of the lake, I had to walk up the mountain carrying the mat to give to the next person. Overall, I really liked spending time with my friends.

My favourite activity was the water slide because it was very big and fun. At 4 o'clock everyone met at the water slide to have a turn. Group 1 went first so they all lined up for it. While everyone was waiting for their group to be called, we were allowed free time outside. I played gaga in the gaga pit there were a lot of people playing in the gaga pit, so I got out first because it was so confusing because of how many people were playing. After I played 2 games of gaga my group got called to have a turn. Everyone raced to line up because they were waiting for so long. When it was my turn I hopped in to the water and I got a shock because how cold it was. My back was freezing when we had to curl up like a burrito. When I was going down the water slide it felt like I was going so fast. I forgot to look how fast I was going down the water slide, but I think it would have been pretty fast. After I got up the hill I went to play some more gaga. It was 31 degrees that day so I dried really quickly.
After everyone had gone on the water slide the teachers said we could all go chill in our cabins. All of the boys ran as fast as they can screaming down the hallway and we hanged out in our cabins until dinner.

Wow, this is fast. At camp we did something called a tread wall.
A Tread wall is like a rock-climbing wall, but it moves and you can make it go faster or slower. You had to wear a helmet and there was a mat below just in case you fell off. If you were at the top you had to touch a pole and that would count as 1 touch.
When it was my go, I climbed to the top and touched it once. The most times someone touched it was 28! After, my group of 10 (Sam, Alex, Luca, Matt, Liam A, Olivia C, Lacey, Emily, Lucy. Emma.) all took a group photo in front of the tread wall. I really liked it because I had never done something like it before. That was probably my favourite activity. And it was our 2nd last activity, so it was more enjoyable. Camp has been so awesome.

It was an amazing Wednesday as we hopped on the bus and headed to camp ADANAC. Our first activity was……..

Once we finished tread wall, we all sprinted to our Cabins we were amazed that we were kind of sharing a room with Zoe, Ella, Ari and Ellie! I loved my cabin I got all the people I requested on my list and that was Estelle, Harper, Maya, Gracie and Emmy! I was so happy. We all started organising our bedroom the bathroom and our cabin. We all thought it looked amazing. I guess it's time for afternoon tea we had M&M cookies they were delicious. Yes, we have free time we are also allowed to go back to our cabins and chill I played 🌮 🙀 🐐 🧀 with Zoe and Ella. In our free time we mostly got ready for the disco, I was doing everyone's hair. I was wearing a white tank top, a black frilly skirt and Ugg boots with my hair I had two fish brads on each side like how people wear two plats. Noooo! I forgot that we still have to have dinner, at least it's a nacho bowl.

Out of everything at camp, the waterslide was my favourite. We were split into groups of 6, sadly my group went last. Most of the time I watched and played in the Gaga pit. I kind of wish now that I played it a bit more because it actually very fun. Anyway, when it was finally my turn, I thought I would be at least a little bit nervous, but no, I found myself completely excited. The teachers told me to lay down on my back and roll myself up into a burrito then I got pushed right down. I accelerated so quickly. I didn't know how fast I was going, but I know I was going over 20km, then all of a sudden, I finally splashed into the river. Surprisingly, it was a lot shallower than I thought. I ended up falling over twice, but in the end, it was amazing.
I forgot to mention, I had another favourite activity, the flying fox. Unlike the waterslide the flying fox was double the length. As we got to the flying fox we all sat down so the instructor could explain what to do, he said that we would have some type of vest on when we go on, instead of going on a seat like most of the time. The thing he said that got to my nerves the most was when he said if you go upside down, we can't guarantee you will be safe, my heart was pounding, before it was my turn I watched Flynn go first, he looked like he had a lot of fun, then it was my turn. I got all strapped up, then, before I knew it, I was nearly flying, as I was looking around, I saw a giant pond right under me. That got me shocked, then as soon as a looked-up BAM! As I bumped into something it felt like I nearly had a heart attack! Then finally when I got off, I wanted to go on again but sadly you couldn't. but at least I went on once.

We arrived at camp Adanac at 11:00 or 11:30 and hauled our big bags onto the deck outside of the lakeview cabins and walked to the meeting room. There we found a lady who was a camp leader. After that, she showed us a video about safety rules. One safety rule was if there is a green tick on the activity go for it! You are allowed to do it. If there is a yellow question mark you had to have someone supervising you. If there is a red x you cannot do it. You need someone that is trained to do it. Your teacher can't even do it with you! Then we got told our rooms. I was in room 56 with Phoebe, Sophie B, Maisie, Emma and Sophie SC. We were told to grab our big bags from the lakeview cabin's deck, bring them to our rooms and organise ourselves. So we all walked down to the lakeview cabin deck and grabbed our bags. Luckily, we were in the lakeview cabins because my bag was heavy! When we got to our cabin we sorted out the beds. I got a top bunk! We sat on our beds chatting for a little bit but then we had to go have lunch.
After lunch, we had to go to our activity group teacher. Mine had Mrs Maxwell. I had Sophie B and Sophie SC in my activity group. The first activity we had was disc golf. It wasn't the hardest thing ever, but I didn't do well in it. My disc went into the lake and a bushy part! Some people did very well though.
We did tread-wall after disc golf. At first, we were wondering what tread-wall was as we walked to the main building. We walked past the meeting room to a room that we had never noticed. Mrs Maxwell opened the door to an interesting piece of machinery. We soon realised it was the tread-wall! Mrs Maxwell explained what we had to do. We had to pair up. Then we had to decide who would be the spotter first and who would be the climber. The tread-wall was a normal rock-climbing wall except it moved like a tread-wall! I had two goes. The first time I climbed half-way up (without it moving) and the second time I got to the top! (without it moving).
After tread-wall, we had morning tea. It was a delicious cookie (one each) and a choice of a fruit. You could choose an apple, a pear, an orange and a mandarin. Our group got there first, so we could sit on the purple velvet couches.
We finished afternoon tea and we went to the flying fox. I was really nervous at first, but when it was my turn, I told the girl who was operating the flying fox and she said to just look up at the sky. I tried her technique and it worked! At the creek part I even started to look forward! There was one rating I would give it. 5 Stars!
After the flying fox we had one hour of free time. Me and my friends were just chilling in our cabin and unpacking. Phoebe made two balloons. One diva girl and one sad boy. We unpacked and then went over to the basket- ball court to watch our school (Beaumaris North Primary School) play against the other school that was there (Coldstream). We won! Then we heard a beep, beep, beep, and we knew it was time for dinner.
For dinner it was AFC (Adanac Fried Chicken) and you could have it with teriyaki sauce, sweet and sour sauce or honey fried chicken sauce. You had rice, broccoli and carrots. Oh, and there was bread too. I chose teriyaki sauce on my chicken. After dinner we had ice cream. You could choose sprinkles and sauces. I chose strawberry sauce and bubble-gum sauce. I also chose rainbow sprinkles.
After dinner we got ready for the disco! I wore a yellow dress with pink, orange and red stripes on it. My favourite songs were Soda pop, Your idol and Golden! We danced, and danced, and danced! It was so much fun!
After the disco It was time to go to sleep. Me and my friends chatted for a bit, but then we slowly drifted off to sleep.

It was an exciting Wednesday as we boarded the bus. When we got to ADANAC I was really excited because I had all of my friends in my cabin! The teachers told us to put all of our stuff away. I got changed and put on out-door shorts and shoes, put on sunscreen, got my hat and water bottle ready for actives. My group leader was Miss Evins, and first up we had archery. It was really fun. We had four shots. The first time I shot the arrow it nearly hit my skin! I came 4th in my group with 11 points.
After archery I had disc golf and I came 3rd or 4th but only had time to do two! [Afternoon tea]. Next, we had tread wall. I was really excited because it was like rock climbing and I love rock climbing, but it was harder because the wall would move! Then we had free time and for our free time we had the Basketball court the Gaga pit and table tennis. About a quarter was at the Gaga pit and the rest at the table tennis and basketball court. The other school that was there, Cold Stream came to the Basketball court and started to verse us in a match! It was so legit that we even had a Referee. Our School ended up winning like 24-2. The match ended because the meal bell rang and dinner was DELICIOUS I even went back for seconds! When Niki the cook, said we were having dessert and it was real yum! And when we headed off we had a DISCO!!! I loved the disco but the thing that threw me off was kind of the music, but I still loved it!

Yay! Zoe, Ella and Ari are in my cabin and next door is Maya, Harper, Avie, Emmy, Grace and Estelle. In my group was Estelle, harper and about ten others my group leader was Mrs Maxwell. We were group five. First, we did DISC GOLF. All you have to do is throw a Frisbee as far as you can to get it into a goal sort of thing and you have to get it in as little throws possible. I got thirty-three, the person in my group that got the least was Harper who got about sixteen.
Then luckily, we got to go inside. It was nice and cool in the room and we did TREADWALL which is basically rock climbing, but it goes on forever because it is just a loop and the teacher can control how fast it should go for you. I wasn't that good but some people were like really fast and sometimes were waiting for the next handle.
Another time we did the FLYING FOX it was pretty high up and it went for about 14 seconds. The harness was a bit uncomfortable. Estelle was taking photos of some people doing it so while I was up there I waved to her. Sadly, it went pretty quickly. I had to walk all the way up the hill with a big metal thing on my back.
On the way back home, we saw a koala and Ari made an amazing impression of a kookaburra to call it over. Everyone tried to copy but Ari did it the best.

It was an exciting Wednesday. We were heading off to camp ADANAC. On the bus we were going to find out are cabin groups. I was with Darcy, Grace, Lacey and Emily I was happy and also my group leader was Miss Evins.
First up we had archery it was actually really easy. I have no idea how to shoot an arow but once it was my turn I tried to shoot but it was easier than I thought it would be. I had no idea what place I came in but I am pretty sure that I came 3rd last.
Secondly, we had disk golf. At my first attempt of throwing the frisbee it just rolled back to me but then at my second attempt I almost got in the basket. It took me at least 9 attempts to get it in. We ended up getting to hole 2 but my Frisbee rolled down behind the tree, so I was so far away from the target.
Thirdly we had tread wall I was so nervous when we walked in because it looked really hard to climb up. And also, you had to wait until the rock-climbing rocks came down from the top. Sometimes you would fall off but you did have a spotter because there was no harness.
Then we had free time we all went to the basketball court and played a match between
the other school and we crushed them. We finally finished all of the activities so then it was time to go and set up our cabin. And after that we had to get ready for dinner. We had chicken tenders with rice and vegies. It was delicious.

While we were at camp ADANAC we enjoyed lots of activities: Treadwall Flying fox blockbuster camp cooking archery and disc golf. On the first day we were there the first activity we did was treadwall rock climbing with a twist it would go down with your weight. I wasn't very good at this, but I gave it a go. Then we did flying fox it was so fun not scary at all and at the end of the flying fox I had a big crowd watching me.
Then we did block buster which was a fun game including bocks and you assembled blocks into words, and you couldn't lean forward to see if it was correct so your team would guide you.
Then we played dodge ball with cool songs, at the end it was a tie. That night for dinner we had AFC which is ADANAC fried Chicken. It was yummy 😋.
For dessert we had ice cream and syrup you had a max of two syrups I had strawberry and blue heaven. That night me and my cabin almost stayed up all night chatting we eventually got some sleep. The next morning we had breakfast in the dining room and I had cereal 🥣 and yogurt.

Hi, I am here today to tell you about camp. Well, not the full camp experience just the activities!
So, my group’s first activaty was low ropes and volleyball, in low ropes you would go in a group of 3 in my group was Zoe, Imogen and me. We need all three because two of them would be spotters and the other on the ropes, we did that for half of the time then we did volley ball for the other half, instead of doing volley ball we did Newcombe and it was really fun, but there was a funny bit when the ball went over the big net to stop it from going in the river but it went over it and landed in the lake but we could reach it!
Then we did disc golf, we went in groups of 3 and it was my 2nd fav activaty! And we finished all 12 holes. One group only finished 2 holes in a hole hour! It was a really great activity in the end.
"Brriiinngg" rang the bell, and we all knew what that meant! We had to go to the gym for are next activity, and it was bombardment, so all the groups came to gather and play bombardment it is when you have dodge balls in the middle and there are two teams, we have to run up and get the balls and throw them at each other. So that is some of the things that happened on camp!

We arrived at Adanac for our first camp ever! We got off the bus so excited! I was ready I was excited I WAS AMAZED, to spend 3 days and 2 nights here. In the cabin we all had a blast everyone all was so funny. We all had the giggles. In my cabin there was Grace M, Estelle, Maya, Harper, Avie and ME!
For activities the whole year level was split in two 6 groups. We each got put in 6 groups. We also had a leader, I had the best, the one- Miss EVINS. There were six different activities.

Low Ropes/Volleyball
My favourite was the Flying Fox.
My second favourite was archery. It was the exact same as normal but with a pool noodle in the middle which is worth 15 points. Archery was so fun we got 3 arrows on our first turn. I end up with 5 points. Once everyone had a go we each got another go but only with one arrow, and triple points! And guess what I hit THE POOL NOODLE!!!
Third favourite, Easy. That would be the Tread Wall. I had no clue what the Tread wall was but if you use your brain, you might be able to figure it out.
It basically a rock-climbing wall that moves. I was first and by far the most skilled. The heavier you are the faster it gets, so I was going a little fast. We each had 3 turns, if your foot touched the mat/floor that was on turn over.
In total it was blast after all. Can't wait for camp next year!

Camp was awesome!
My favourite thing was my cabin group I had Levi, Kurt and Louis. The disco was also one of my favourite things. It was SO awesome! The songs were great, everyone was hyper.
FOOD.
The food at Adanac was awesome!
The first night dinner was AFC .aka. Adanac Fried Chicken. The night after that we had nachos. They were much better than the ones I have at home. For breakfast one of the things they had was homemade yogurt. It was the best breaky ever!
ACTIVITIES..
The activities were awesome! All of the activities were Archery, Low ropes, Beach Volleyball, Disc Golf, Flying Fox, Camp Cooking and Tread Wall. My favourite activities was the Volleyball. I have even started playing Volleyball at my home!
WHOLE GROUP ACTIVITIES..
Whole group activities were: Water slide and Jug 'n' Jog. The water slide was super overrated, I much rather the zipline (flying fox) because on the zipline you were in the air and had a great view. On the other hand, the water slide was cold there was not much to see and a lot of people stop towards the end of the slide! I still enjoyed the water slide though. Jug 'n' Jog was basically capture the flag but with lots of items including an empty rubbish bin worth 50 points.
FREE TIME ACTIVITIES..
Free time activities included the gaga pit, cage soccer, trampoline sometimes the basketball court and our cabins. My favourite was the gaga pit. I had never played gaga before and it was a great experience for me. On the trampoline I tried to pull off a double front flip and I did it!... Kind of.. Did it… You see I landed on my back and my knee came flying up and smashed into my cheek and now I got a decently sized bruise on my cheek.
Overall camp was an AWESOME experience, and I wish I could go back!

When we got to the meeting area, I was very excited for the next few sunny days.
When one of the camp staff showed us where our cabins were and we were cabin two. In my cabin group there was Hunter, Nate, Lenny, Alex and Jude and in think that was the best cabin that I could get. We met back in the meeting area and the staff took us for a tour and showed us everything.
After we all got into are activity groups and went off to our first activities and ours was camp cooking. We were making damper which is a Aboriginal bread made out of flower and water. When we got our little portion, we wrapped it on a stick and put the stick next to the fire so it could cook. When mine was done cooking a put some jam on mine and it tasted amazing. We were all done so we headed off to our next activities low ropes and volleyball. First, we did low ropes and we had two spotters that would stand next to you in case you fell. My spotters were Mathew and Alexander. There were a lot of sections and all of them were really hard.

We arrived at camp Adanac for our first camp! We got off the bus for the next best 3 days and 2 nights ever!
We already knew who was in each cabin because we were told on the bus. My cabin was by far the best! We had a blast , in my cabin was Harper, Grace M, Estelle, Emmy, Avie and ME!
On the first day we were put into 6 groups and had our own leader, I had Mrs Lee!
We all had 6 activities to do. My favourite activity was the flying fox because we got to go so high up and I liked looking at the view of the lake. Our guide had given us a challenge to see who could scream the loudest and I came 2nd!
My second favourite thing would have to be the Tread wall. It was a rock wall that moved when you put weight on it. I was by far the best and most skilled at it in my group! You didn't even wear a harness so if you fall you would go on a mat but it wasn't that tall.
My third favourite would easily be camp cooking because we made damper and had to toast it like a marshmallow, and I loved getting messy! Once you had cooked your damper on the fire you got to put different spreads on it.
There was also Archery, Disc Golf, Low ropes/Volleyball and some extra fun things like dodgeball, blockbusters, jug and jog and there was even a WATERSLIDE!
The waterslide was a smooth concrete slide that went all the way down into a huge lake. When I went down the waterslide, I had to wrap myself up in a mat like a burrito and wear a helmet just in case I banged my head! The water was super colder on the waterslide than in the lake and when it was my turn it started to rain a tinsy bit!
To sum up my recount I definitely had the best three days and two nights EVER!

The first activity my group did was tread wall. Tread wall is like rock climbing with a twist. The twist is that the wall moves the more you climb and you could go on forever. At first it looked really easy but it's actually really hard. We got around three goes and in average I got a round 30 seconds. But the longest anyone in my group stayed on was around 50 seconds and that was Phoebe.
We had the flying fox afterwards and it was so fun I was first but I was a bit nervous, so I moved into the middle. When it was finally my go, I was so nervous but once I was on it felt like I was flying (almost). Then it was Mr Bray’s turn and everyone was cheering him on.
Then we had afternoon tea and it was these really good smartie biscuits they tasted so good!
The next day we had the water slide!!! It was so fun, and my group was first to go up after Mr Bray demonstrated.

We arrived at camp ADANAC after a long bus ride. I was so excited to just rest on my bed. After an interesting tour of the camp, we went to our cabins. We had to make our beds and set up our things neatly. Then we went off to our activities.
My first activity was low ropes and beach volleyball. On the low ropes we all had two spotters. Even with the spotters I still fell like 3 billion times. I didn't really like low ropes.
At beach volleyball the ball went out a lot of times! At one point Leo hit it and it went rolling and fell in the river. But luckily Mrs Lee got it. At the end of the game no one knew the score, so we just said it was a draw.
Our next activity was archery. My score was…..4. We all got three turns at shooting three arrows. One time an arrow went between the roof and the rain guard. Also, one of the arrows got stuck on the curtain at the back. Then we had to use the spare arrows.
The next thing was disc golf. Disc golf is where you throw a frisbee and you have to try get it in the net/basket. There are 12 holes, and they spread out across the whole camp. Sometimes the frisbee rolls down towards the lake. But one person got so lucky. Their frisbee was rolling toward the lake and then it took a turn and just missed the lake by a few centimetres!
After that we all went to our cabins to get ready for dinner. When the dinner bell went everyone ran as fast as they could to get a good seat at the dining table. For dinner we had AFC. ADANAC fried chicken. It was so good. But some of the rice was still dry.
Then we had the disco. I did not like it because I HATE loud noise. Also, when we were at the disco, whenever I moved my toes, my foot would start to hurt really bad. I don't even know why!!!
The next day after breakfast we had bombardment. Bombardment is like dodgeball, but you have 3 bowling pins and if the other team knocks down all of your pins then they win. I was the last one standing in one of the rounds. Everyone else had gotten out. I was very happy because I have never been the last one standing in anything before!
I loved all of those activities, but my very favourite was the waterslide. It was made out of concrete and you had to wrap yourself in this foam mat and not sit up the whole time. We also had a thing to show how fast you go. I went 22kilometers per hour.
Also on the way back we saw and wild koala in the fork of the tree.

Wow! Just wow! Year 4 had an amazing time at Camp ADANAC! Now I will tell you about my favourite activities.
One of my favourites was my first activity… archery! When my group was walking to archery I saw an ADANAC staff member waiting for us. I knew that she would help us with instructions for how to be safe with the equipment. Her name was Bree. She told us how to shoot the arrows. She told us that if you hit the pool noodle, which was in front of the target, it was worth 15 points. There was also a target behind the pool noodle. If your arrow landed near the middle you got more points. Then we were put in a group of three. I was with Aree H and Finn T. Then we stepped up and put on an arm band. I was super nervous. We shot our first arrow. We all did terrible but at least I got one point because I hit the wood. I was happy though because it was my first go and I did alright. Then we had our second shot so we set up the arrows and when I was going to shoot, my arrow fell on the floor so I picked it up and I shot it… but it bounced off and hit the ground. I was quite annoyed. We had one more turn so I got ready to shoot. I shot the arrow and it made a weird sound as it flew in the air.
Sadly, I missed the target altogether. We stepped off and I took my arm band off and then the other group had a go. But when it was Grace R's turn, she shot and hit the pool noodle! She was winning!. When we had all had our turn, Bree told us we had run out of time but we could have one arrow which was worth three times the points. When I stepped up and shot my arrow, I got one so I got 3 points! Then it was George's turn. He hit the pool noodle and got forty five. Then when Emmy had her go, she also got the pool noodle and got forty five too! At the end they both had 50 points each and were clear winners. I got 4 and won in my group.
I really liked Camp ADANAC and I wish I could go back because it was so much fun. I loved the food and activities! It is was a great first Camp and I hope they get better and better in Year 5 and Year 6.

On the first day of camp my group had disc golf. The course started at the blossom tree on the top of the hill. There was a little sign that said where the 'hole' was and how many throws we needed to get it in. Our activity leader, Mrs Lee, put us into smaller groups of 3. I was in group 1 with Leo and Emil so we got to throw first. When we got our discs in the basket we told Mrs Lee our score. After we had been around the whole course we added up the scores - Leo won, Emil came second and I came last.
On the second day after lunch we went back to our cabins to get ready for the water slide. I was really excited. It was long. It was 110m long to be exact! The teachers told us to put our towels on the grass and play near the slide. I went and played in the gaga pit with a bunch of other people. The teachers were calling activity groups to do the slide so when group 3 was called, I sprinted over and quickly took my shoes off and hopped in line. There were about 4 people in front of me so It wasn't a very long wait for my turn. I stepped into the shallow pool and laid down on the mat. The slide looked a lot bigger from the top. Then Mrs Badley rolled me up in a burrito like shape and she pushed me down. I started sliding down and it was really fast and I had no idea where I was because all I could see was the mat. 'Splosh!' That’s when I felt the icy cold water hit my body. It was a long walk back up the hill. I gave Mrs Evins my mat for the next person. I went and got my towel and got changed back in the cabins.
The third day was really exciting because we were going to see our parents in the afternoon. We did camp cooking. We made damper. We all sat down on the benches and took turns reading out the ingredients and directions. We needed 1kg of flour, a pinch of salt and 1 & 1\2 cups of water. The camp ADANAC staff had already got the fire going so it was nice and hot, perfect for our damper. We got to work sharing around the mixing bowl and spoon. I got to put the salt in the damper. Mrs Lee then divided all the dough into smaller pieces and told us to roll them along the table and then wind it onto our stick. The rolling bit was easy but winding the damper onto our sticks was a lot harder. Eventually I got it on and started cooking my damper on the camp fire. After about 5 minutes, it was burnt in some bits but golden on the other side. I decided to have some jam on my burnt bit of damper:( It was nice-ish… the burnt damper wasn't too great but the jam was good!

OMG, year 4 just had a camp at Camp ADANAC and it was so much fun.
When we first got on the bus we got our camp booklet and we found out our cabin and activity groups. When we arrived we got a tour around and then we had our first activity with Mrs Badley who was our group leader.
Our first activity was the flying fox. When we were walking to the flying fox which was not a very long walk, I was feeling a bit nervous and excited at the same time. When we got there we all sat on a bench as the ADANAC staff member explained everything about what we had to do. After that the first person in our group put their harness and helmet on and walked up the steps. They hooked their harness on to the flying fox and then they jumped off and went zooming down the zipline. After a few minutes of waiting it was my turn. I put my harness and my helmet on, then I walked up the steps and attached my harness to the flying fox and jumped off the edge. 'Whoosh' I heard as I zoomed down the flying fox. I felt like I was flying! At the end of the flying fox I hung there for a second and then the ADANAC staff member helped me down. When I was walking back up the hill I had to carry the harness to the next person in line. When everybody in our group had had their turn, Mrs Badley decided she wanted to go down too! Everyone in our group cheered her on as she went down the zipline.
In the end I had so much fun at camp ADANAC and I hope you enjoyed reading about my time at camp.

As I was on my to my last activity, I was jumping up and down because, it was the activity that I was looking forward to all camp! It was archery!
I love archery because I love aiming for the target and using my skills and knowledge to aim the right angle to hit the target correctly. I also love the structure of the bow which looked a lot different to what I thought it was going to look like. I like the designs of the arrows because near the end of the arrow it looked like feathers coming out of it! I also liked how I could use the bow because I am left handed. I like how there was a pool noodle in front of the target which was worth 15 points if we hit it! Sadly I didn't hit the noodle or the target at all, but I did do very good job because when it was my 5th go I was so close to hit the noodle because it just flew past the noodle!
My group was split into 4 groups of 3. When it was my turn, my group stood up from our seat. We stood up in front of the bow and arrows to have our turn. First we held the bow to our hips. The string part had to be facing towards our hips. Then we held the bow higher up next to our tummy. Then we picked up an arrow and loaded the bow with the front, sharp part of the arrow facing towards the target. After we had loaded the bow, I put my feet facing towards the lake and I held the bow with my arm, holding the string with three fingers. After I had worked out the angle to hit the target, I let go of the string and it flew towards the target but sadly missed! I had 2 more goes until I had to wait for my next turn. We also had to put on arm protectors. If I was right handed I would have had the arm guard on my left arm, but I am left handed so I put it on my right arm.
When it was all over I was wishing that this camp could happen all over again because I had so much fun, especially playing archery!

I was happy, nervous, but mostly excited to do archery! Archery was finally here! It was on! We all had real archery equipment - an arm guard, a bow and 3 arrows! Bree told us that we could add up our scores depending on which part of the target we hit. She said that if we hit the pool noodle, which was hanging in front of the target, it was worth 15 points! All of us were shocked, so we all obviously tried to get the pool noodle. When it was my first turn, I only got 2. I wasn’t proud of it, but when it was time for my second turn I tried a bit harder and I got 36!! I got the pool noodle twice and also a 6 on the actual target! Who knew I was going to be good at archery?!
GAGA
You may be asking what is GAGA???
Well gaga is a ball game in a small octagonal pit. You need to bounce the ball and yell GAGA then someone catches it, then they roll it and if it touches your feet or legs you are out. So the aim of the game is to dodge it. Every morning, afternoon or during free time, everyone would race to play GAGA. It was kind of hard but it got easier and easier! It was the best game I ever played at camp.

When we first arrived I was taken aback by how beautiful the lakeside view was.
I was looking forward to all the activities there but mostly I was looking forward to the whole group activity… the jug 'n' jog…
We walked up to the oval on the far side from where we were staying and when we got there a lady from the ADANAC staff told us to sit in the shade because it was SOOO hot!!! At first we didn’t know what we were doing until she explained the game to all of us. So basically, on both sides of the oval there was a red bin with cones around it and different objects inside the circle of cones. Some of the objects were pool noodles, life jackets, soccer balls, footy balls, and a big squishy dice (more on that later.) There was also a line of cones in the middle of the oval. The aim of the game was to be the team with the most objects at the end of the round. So, you had to get past the line in the middle of the oval without getting tagged by the other team, and if you did get tagged, you had to sit down in the spot where you got tagged. The only way you could continue playing was if someone on your team grabbed your hand/wrist and you stayed connected until you crossed back to your side of the oval. Now, this is where the dice comes in… if you rolled a six on the dice you would be able to walk across without getting tagged, but if you tried to roll a six and you didn't, you would have to run across straight away.
Groups 3, 4 and 5 were on one team and groups 1, 2 and 6 were on the other team. I was in group 5 and we won the first round.
I loved how the ADANAC staff started playing music while we were running around because 1, I love music and 2, everybody knew the songs they were playing.
Mr Bray started playing with the other team halfway through the second round which personally I thought was very fun! Although, five of our steps were like three of his!!!
Wow… what an epic experience!!!!

At camp my favourite highlight of the trip was the free time. On the arrival day we got 20mins of free time to explore our cabins and unpack. I also really liked the beds and the layout of the cabin.
Then at the end of the first day we got an entire hour of free time to play basketball and table tennis! I didn't play table tennis at all because basketball is way better! When we started our match the other school at the camp, Coldstream, arrived and wanted to vs us. I didn't like Coldstream because they were always swearing and moaning and being mean. But in the end we won! The scores were 35-2. I also liked Ms Stoppa's rule where there were subs/rotations. It was really fun!!!
The next two days we were not allowed to play basketball or table tennis during free time, but we were allowed to play in the ga-ga pit, caged soccer and the trampoline. My favourite out of those was the ga-ga pit. A ga-ga pit is an octagonal wooden framed pit, that you climb into and play ga-ga. The way you play is by getting a normal circular ball and tapping it around. If you get hit by the ball you're out. If you don’t get hit you can tap the ball and try to hit someone else. Also there are no teams - it is just a free for all. Usually there is a max of about 10 people in at a time. And the last big rule is that there are no double touches or hitting the ball at the wall and then hitting it again or hitting and then being the next person to hit the ball. The best bit of the entire game was in the 1v1. The first reason why it was the best bit is because you were allowed to have 5 touches! The second reason why is because it was really hard to get the other person out and so it took longer. And the third reason was that everyone came over and was watching the 2 people left. It was the best!!!

Low ropes with Group 6 was one of the best things I've ever done! Low Ropes is a set of 8 obstacles, about 36 centimetres off the ground. We got into groups of 3, with 2 spotters who watched to see if the climber was going to fall. The spotters stood on either side of the obstacle, and watched a climber who climbed the obstacle course without falling off the obstacle.
I was in a group with Ari & Nora, and we rotated who got to do the obstacle first. Nora went first and got 4/8 obstacles before falling off, and then I was next, and managed to do the whole course! Ari went after me, but didn't have enough time to finish the course. I wish I could do it again and again, for the whole day.

On Wednesday 15/10/2025 The Year 4s went on camp to CYC ADANAC. When we got there we sorted out everybody's luggage and went to our cabins. The boys stayed in an area called Acacia and the girls stayed in Lakeside.
Group 1 (my group) started off with my favourite activity… the flying fox. Marcus was the first to go. He looked like he had a great time on it. Next was my go. I felt like I was flying and it was so much fun.
We had camp cooking next. We cooked damper on a camp fire. The damper was really good. We had jam, honey and vegemite to choose from. I had honey… and jam!
In the afternoon we had a quick snack and then my group had low ropes and beach volleyball.
After beach volleyball and low ropes we headed back for 1 hour of free time before dinner.
The first night's dinner was AFC (Adanac Fried Chicken). At 8:00pm Ms Maxwell called everybody down for the disco. We had a blast!
In the morning we got ready for breakfast then headed down for archery before we did a whole year level activity called Jug and Jog. Jug and Jog is a game where we had to steal other people's equipment and if we got tagged, we bobbed down and our teammates could revive us by taking us back to our base.
We had afternoon snack then we had everybody's favourite activity… the waterslide! The waterslide was so good! It was a massive slide that lead into the lake.
We had dinner then bed at 9:30PM.
In the morning, we had breakfast then we did treadwall and disc golf.
We had 1 last hour of free time then went on the bus home.
Camp ADANAC was so great!

At camp my favourite highlight was Bombardment. This game was set up in the indoor gym. The teacher told us the instructions and then the game began.
Bombardment is a game kind of like dodge ball but there are three ways to get a team out. The first way to get everyone out was by catching the ball. Second was by hitting someone with an orange vest on and then everyone on their team would get out. The third way was to hit down all three bowling pins, but we couldn't 'fox guard' them.
I was really excited to play. In the game we had captains who wore an orange vest. On my team the first one to be captain was Luca and I protected him the whole entire time. The second person to be captain was Maya and she didn't get hit with the ball once, which was really good. The third person to be captain was Sam. Then Lucy was captain and then Aiden was last captain for our team.
A strategy I used in the game was to get the ball straight away and then throw It at someone, then run to the back of the area so then I wouldn't get hit as often.
We actually played many rounds and before the last game the leader said that whichever team won the last game, would win the whole thing even though before we did the last game, the scores were 2-4. After we finished the last round my team won the whole game! I was really happy.

On the bus we got our camp booklets that told us what cabins and activity groups we were in.
Around 4PM, on Thursday the whole year 4 had the 110 metre water slide. It went in reverse order of groups from 6-1. Group 6 went first and while people were on the waterslide the other people either watched, played gaga ball, trampoline or cage soccer while they waited. I chose to play gaga ball with my friends.
When it was group 4's turn, which was my group, I waited in line then when I got to the front I realised I still had my shoes and socks on so while the person behind me went, I took my shoes off then I quickly got back to the front of the line. Finally I stepped on the top of the water slide where I laid down in the freezing water on a mat ready to go flying down the slide! Mrs Badley wrapped me up in a tight burrito and pushed me down. I went super fast! When I hit the lake I felt this weird floor under my feet, then Mr Bray said I had to step down to get to the stairs, but as soon as I stepped down… I felt super gooey mud and leaves all mixed together. I quickly got out of it and onto the stairs to climb back up the hill with the mat for the next person to go down. Then I went to play gaga with my friends again.
After the waterslide we had time to go back to our cabin with our cabin mates to get ready for dinner. My cabin mates went back and I had a shower, like most of year 4, because we were all wet from the lake.
After my shower, we had free time before dinner which meant we could play basketball, table tennis, trampoline, cage soccer, gaga ball or get out the cricket set, so Liam Ammundsen and I got out the cricket set. At the start it was just Liam and me but after 5 minutes basically everyone who was close to us and saw us playing started to join in! When the dinner bell rang, everyone started running to get to the hand sanitiser and up the stairs to a table. We all sat down, and the chefs announced what was for dinner, and it was…… TACO BOWLS which was my favourite, and guess what?! You could have any topping you wanted! Everyone was ready to burst out of their seats to get their food! But we needed to wait for the people who had allergies but that was fine. When it was our table's turn we ran up to the counter to grab our food. The next stage was the toppings and the toppings I got were.. lettuce, tomato, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, salsa, corn and corn chips - YUM!
After dinner we had chocolate mousse and for some reason people didn’t like it, but for me personally, I loved it.
After dinner we had a bit of time to grab our pillows and sleeping bags for the movie night! Before the movie night we also had to clean our cabins but that was easy because we cleaned ours earlier. When all the boys were ready to go, we left to go to the movie room. When we got there we put our sleeping bags and pillows somewhere comfortable.

Leo – 4C
Year 4 had camp and I was really nervous but I'm going to tell how I had a really fun time at ADANAC.
On the bus we all found out our cabin groups and I was in cabin 4 and my activity group was group 3.
On day 1 my group did archery then volleyball and high ropes. Archery was my favourite! We had a bow and 3 arrows - we had to try to hit a noodle which was hanging in front of the target right in the middle. We scored points and the noodle was worth more than the bullseye. I got the noodle!
We also did high ropes and volleyball. First we did high ropes. We had to team with 3 people and one person did the obstacle course and the other 2 'spotted' them.
Then we did newcombe ball which is an easier version of volleyball.
In between activities, we had free time and I played tag with a few friends.
After free time my group did disk golf. It's basically a Frisbee game. We got into groups of 3 and we threw the Frisbee towards a metal basket with chains hanging from it. We counted how many throws it took to get our frisbee in the basket. There were 12 baskets.
That night our dinner was the best! We had a AFC (ADANAC Fried Chicken) that tasted like chicken tenders and crispy chicken. We also had a disco which was awesome!
At like 9:00pm or something we got into our cabins and it was hard to get to sleep but we made it.
On day 2 we played a game called GAGA - it was really fun! We had to go in a wooden fenced octagonal shaped pit and there was one ball that anyone could hit, only roll along the ground. Once someone hit it, another player could still hit it but say it hit you below your waist you were out but say it hit your palm you basically just hit it. We couldn't cover below our waist otherwise we were out.
That morning for breakfast, Nicki (the kitchen lady) said we had a 10/10 plain yogurt and trust me, she was right! We also had cereal to choose from, like rice bubbles, sultana bran and much more. There was also toast and plastic packets of butter, jam, vegemite and honey.
We got into our groups and started activities. First we did a doge ball game which was kind of fun. The second activity was a whole year level game called Jug and Jog. We were put into 2 teams and there were objects on each side and we had to get on the other team's side to get all of their equipment. If we got the bin, our team would win. If we went on the other side to steal something the other team would try to tag us and if we got tagged we would sit down and someone from our team would try to save us by giving a high five. The 2 of us would walk to the other side and no one could tag us.
After that we did tread wall which was a rock climbing wall that rotates and it got faster the higher we climbed.
Later all the groups did the water slide. It was a straight slide going down to the pond.
After the water slide some people were playing GAGA so I joined.
The dinner for that night was nachos. After that we had a movie night and we all had popcorn.
On day 3 after breakfast my group did flying fox. It was a bit high but it was ok because we all got strapped in and only 1 person went at a time. When it was my turn I was a bit nervous but when I was half way it was so much fun that I wanted to do it again but sadly we didn't have time.
My group's last activity was camp cooking. We made these things that looked like big marshmallows but it was called damper. We wrapped it around a stick and cooked it over a fire just like a marshmallow.
After that we did free time and we all packed up and went home. That was my first camp - it was amazing!

Estelle – 4C
''Lights out'' said the teachers as they flicked the switches off. It was about 10:00pm when the girls in my cabin started to doze off. Emmy and I were still awake because Ellie came to the door and poked her head in and said that she was feeling like she was going to vomit. She asked us to help her because everyone in her cabin was asleep but Emmy and I were awake. Emmy and I got out of our beds and said to Ellie that she should go and stand over the toilet just in case. I was waiting with Ellie while Emmy and Annabel went and got the teachers. After Emmy and Annabel got the teachers we both hopped back into bed and tried to get some sleep.
Ahhhh... the morning… I was so tired after the events of the night before but equally excited for the day ahead.
Avie and I were the first people in our group to wake up. After the rest of our friends woke up, Emmy and I called everyone on to Emmy's bed to talk about what happened the night before, about what our groups were going to do in the day and about whether we were nervous about the water slide.

Camp last week was amazing! My favourite part about it was the food.
Meal one: On the first night of camp for dinner we had AFC and water which stands for ADANAC fried chicken. We had the option of honey soy, terriyaki or sweet and sour sauce. I chose every one because I couldn't decide, but I regretted that pretty badly after what happened. My chicken was completely coated in sweet and sour sauce, my rice had so much terriyaki sauce it was too salty to eat and I couldn't even taste the honey soy sauce.
Meal two: Night one's dessert was ice cream sundaes. We were allowed two pumps of whatever flavour topping we wanted plus sprinkles. I got pineapple and banana topping with chocolate sprinkles.
Meal three: Thursday morning's breakfast was a buffet containing apple juice, cereal, toast, porridge and the best yoghurt ever! I had everything because it was all so good.
Meal four: For lunch on Thursday we had chicken burgers and green cordial. We were allowed whatever sauces, salads and cheeses we wanted on our burger. It was sooooo good.
Meal five: For dinner on Thursday night we had taco bowls and green cordial. The taco bowls were basically nachos, served with rice and taco mince. We were allowed to add lettuce, cheese, multi coloured peppers, pineapple, beans, salsa, sour cream and guacamole.
Meal six: For dessert on Thursday night we had chocolate mousse which in my opinion is so overrated because everyone was latterly cheering about 10 sprinkles. But it was still pretty good.
Meal seven: Breakfast on Friday was the same as Thursday morning which was great because it meant I could get the exact same thing I wanted again.
Meal eight: Lunch on the last day was our last meal. It was a 'build your own' roll with salami, chicken, ham, lettuce, cheese, tomato, pickles, cucumber and the same sauces as Thursday's lunch. Nicki, the ADANAC dining room leader, said we could have any of the meats on their own or we could mix them up and have 'chilami', 'salicken', 'salam' or 'meat lovers'. We also had orange cordial.

When we arrived on Wednesday 15th I took a breath and slowly turned my head to the lake side view… suddenly everything around me blurred… and then I saw the flying fox! I was instantly so excited!! On Friday the 17th (our last day at camp) my group finally had the chance to do flying fox! The zip line was around 120 metres long! When we arrived, the instructor, Joel, told us his name, then he told us some rules such as when we jump off don't jump up otherwise we will get stuck and that's not good so we had to jump forwards. He told us some other things like how to put on the harness. There was a green harness which was a little bigger than the blue one, so everyone who was taller had the green harness. When we got to the bottom a lady named Lauren dragged a tower trolley over to where we were hanging, so we climbed up on it and Lauren climbed up and un-clipped us from the line. We had to walk all the way back up the hill.
When it was my turn I was a little nervous and when I put on the green harness I felt a little more nervous, even when I knew I was going to be safe. When I stood up on the platform I was so excited! When I stepped off the platform I knew I was in the air. Joel had told us we could lean back and relax, so at one point when I was in the air I leant back and relaxed and I was so comfortable. Then before I knew it, it was over. It was one of the best 20 seconds of my life!! But then I had to walk all the way back up the hill! When I got there I had to take off the harness and my group leader (Mrs Lee) helped me a bit. The flying fox was so much fun and I recommend anyone to do it at ADANAC CAMP!!

Amaya – 4C
On Thursday everyone on the year 4 camp participated in an activity together - it was called 'Jug and Jog'. 'Jug and Jog' is a really fun game. Groups 1, 3 and 5 were on one team, with groups 2,4 and 6 on the other. I was in group 4 so I was on the 'Evens' team. The aim of the game was to steal all the items from the other team's side without getting tagged. But if someone did get tagged, they'd have to sit down where they got caught and wait to be rescued. To rescue someone you had to run to them and keep in contact with them until you were safely back on your own team's side.
Each team had a name - ours was The Red Pickles. The other team's was The Golden Pickles. The Red Pickles had pink sashes while The Golden Pickles had no sashes. The lifejacket, ball and noodle were worth 1 point. The vortex was worth 2 points. I took the lifejacket. If we zipped and clipped up the lifejacket we would be able to cross to our side safely, but if we left it open we could get tagged.
On each team there was a bin, and that bin was worth 50 points. Several people tried to steal our bin. The first team to get the bin to their team's side would win the match!!! Unfortunately no team managed to get the bin to their side, but the opposite team came close which was very alarming for our team!!! I rescued about 10 people, got tagged about 3 times and stole 1 item. I was really proud of how my team played.
At the end, we were all pretty hot and sweaty so the camp leaders sprayed us with a huge water hose! I thought the game was one of the best activities that we did on camp, along with the waterslide and the flying fox!

DISCO NIGHT
Excited chatter filled the hallway as all the girls in our section (Lakeview) started walking to the Disco Room. We saw bright lights already coming from the Disco Room and we could hear faint pumping music from there as well. From then we knew we were definitely going to have such a fun time.
As we entered the room, (I was wearing a white skirt and a blue and white striped top) we all ran to the stage and started singing because we all knew the first song very well. 'Pink Pony Club, I'm going to keep on dancing at the Pink Pony Club…' Then Ms Maxwell played a song called 'California Gurls' by Katy Perry and Snoop Dogg - EVERYONE was singing it, even the boys! It was so loud!! :) :) It reminded me of when I had my dance comps and when I was on the actual stage dancing.
HOT JAM DONUTS
"Thank you," I said as I started walking to the soft, dark purple couch on the deck where my friends were sitting. There was a beautiful view of the Yarra mountains there. Hot jam donuts were exactly what I was craving after doing the flying fox. I was really excited because I love 'hot jam donuts' and when I took a bite inside… I didn’t just love the taste, I loved how the strawberry jam was still warm and how it hit the spot! I really needed that! It was not too sweet and not too plain either, it was PERFECT! The cinnamon was crunchy and sweet, and rolled over my fingers. My donut disappeared down my throat in a matter of seconds. You could say it was heaven in my mouth.

Guess what? We just had camp and it was so much fun. These were my favourite activities:
1.Tread Wall
Tread wall was one of my favourite activities because I like rock climbing and it was just a rock climbing wall on a treadmill except it was weight sensitive. It had different levels which made it lower faster. It was so cool. I went first and Harper went with me too, and the reason why Harper came with me is because there had to be a spotter and a climber. I was the climber and Harper was the spotter. I hopped on the wall and my group leader (Ms Maxwell) put the lever to 3 and the wall started to move but I was too fast so Ms Maxwell turned the lever to 6 then 7 then 9 and I stayed at nine until it was my turn to spot Harper. Harper was good as well. Then we had to tap people and they would go next. We all got to go two times and people who wished to go one more time got to go three times. I only went twice and on my second try I went a little worse but I still did quite well and I still had tons of fun.
2.Water slide
Everyone was so excited for this. We all got ready and came together outside on the deck, then we went down to the water slide to get the safety rules. We also got told that we were doing the water slide group by group but backwards, so 6, 5, 4 etc. I was in group 5 so we were second. The first person to go was Mr Bray - he had to wrap himself up like a burrito in something like a foam tarp. He shouted that it was cold and so it was. When it was my turn I figured out that it wasn't just cold it was freezing! After I got wrapped up I got pushed down the slide which was 110 metres long! With that length, you go fast! I went 22km per hour and when I reached the end I figured out that the lake wasn't that cool. In fact it was warmer. In all it was a good water slide but just a little bit terrifying.
3.Archery
Archery was another one of my favourite activities. We had to get a safety talk first and we always had to stay seated, and were only allowed to get up if it was our turn to fire. The target went from 1 to 10 points and there was a pool noodle hanging in front of the target that was worth 15 points if you were lucky enough to hit it. There were 6 groups in our group to fire. There was roughly one left handed person per group and 2 in our group, (group 6). Group 1 went first and everyone tried their best with their three shots but no one hit the target or pool noodle, until Hunter hit a 5 pointer. Then I hit an 8 pointer with my right hand. I was feeling happy with myself and then after everyone went twice it was my turn to go again. With my three shots I did two on my right hand and I felt like I wanted to do 1 with my left hand. So I brought up the bow, aimed and fired and my arrow hit the pool noodle. I was shocked and so surprised.
In all it was a great camp and I could not have done it without Ms Maxwell.

Lucy – 4C
On Thursday 17/10/25 after our bust trip to ADANAC, we got a tour of the camp grounds and saw some ducklings. Brooke, the camp leader, told us not to go too close because they would get protective of their babies.
I was certain I would have so much fun at camp, and I was right. The views, meals, staff & activities were amazing! My favourite activity was volleyball and there were many more, so I will tell you more about it.
When my group played volleyball I absolutely LOVED the game. I have never played before and it was hard at the start but then I learnt the rules and it got easier. It was girls VS boys and Ms Carter was on our team (the girls' team.) Sadly the boys won but we were catching up to them.
When we played we could look out to the lake and it was beautiful. There was a very tall fence so the ball didn’t go in the lake. Ms Carter taught us all the different types of ways to hit the ball like a dig or a coconut if you don’t have time to change to a block and of course a serve. When we did serves it kind of hurt our wrists but it was still really fun. I also loved that on the way back we saw the same ducklings we saw on the tour - they were so FLUFFY.

OMG Camp ADANAC was so fun and I can't wait to tell you all about it!
On the first day, we arrived at this beautiful camp. it was so cool! My group's first activity was the flying fox! It was super fun. At the start everyone had butterflies in their tummies. I was around the back of the line so I could see how good it was. We had to put a harness on for safety so we didn’t fall or lose our grip. We went over the lake and had an amazing view of the whole camp. At the end there was a black thing to stop us and a worker on a platform helped us get out of the harness. Sadly, we had to go all the way up the big hill with the heavy harness so that the next person in our group could have their turn.
On the second day we did like the longest water slide in the WORLD! I was super scared, but luckily I was last so I got to see how it was done. It was super fun, I loved it. So what we had to do was we laid down on a mat that the teachers were holding and when we were ready the teachers gave us a 3 second countdown and we headed down the longest water slide ever! At the end we went into a lake. It was one of my favourite activities on camp!!!!
Moving on to Friday, the last day, we got packing and when we were done packing we got to do our first activity, disc golf!! Disc golf is a game where we had a Frisbee and we had to try and get it in some baskets with chains and our goal was to get the least amount of throws in the group. Flynn and I tied with 49 points and we both won!!
I loved Camp ADANAC!

Chatter reverberated around me, as Group 2 walked to the firepit to start Camp Cooking. We all sat down on a curved, wooden bench and Ms Carter told us what we had to do. To start with we had to find a long stick. One of the camp staff members told Lyric and me the best spot to look for long sticks. She pointed us towards an old tree on a big pile of leaves and bracken surrounded by tall, skinny, young trees that sort of looked like bamboo. There were long sticks scattered over the pile as well. Lyric and I grabbed a stick each and then ran back to the firepit to tell everyone else where to get them. Once we all had sticks, Ms Carter sat us down on the same wooden bench like before. She pulled a large metal bowl from a plastic tub with the words 'CAMP COOKING' printed on a laminated piece of paper stuck to the tub. Then she asked Liam Anderson to read the ingredients off of a piece of paper. There was: 1 kg of flour, 2 and a half cups of water and 1 quarter of a cup of butter. We all took turns mixing and pouring the water into the batter. Once it was ready, Ms Carter gave us a medium-sized clump of the batter. I was surprised to find out how sticky it was! It was so sticky it felt like slime, putty and PVA glue all mixed together! It kept slipping through my fingers, and I had to be careful not to drop it. Once everyone had their clump of batter, there was a large, wooden table with metal trays on it that everyone surrounded to roll their clump into a long sausage sort of shape. After we had rolled it out, we spun it round and round the top of the stick that we had found earlier. It made a pretty spiral shape once we had finished wrapping it round. After we had wrapped our batter around the stick, we held it over the fire for SOOOOOOOOO LONG!!! It drove me nuts!!! The smoke kept getting in my eyes, and it was so ANNOYING!!! Ms Carter told us to hold up our pointer fingers and say 'white rabbit white rabbit'. Apparently that keeps the smoke away.
Once my damper was cooked, (it was a bit gooey on the inside, but oh well) I put strawberry jam on it, and it was DELICIOUS!!! It was crunchy and golden-brown on the outside, and soft and fluffy (and a little bit gooey) on the inside. I filled up my water bottle and was ready to go to the next activity!
