Maths in Prep

Sharing

Our Prep students have begun an exciting journey into learning division and sharing in Maths! Last week, they explored these new concepts through a fun, hands-on activity where they practiced sharing cookies evenly into cookie jars.

This interactive lesson helped them understand the idea of dividing objects fairly and set a strong foundation for their growing math skills. It was a sweet way to learn about sharing and numbers!

Revising Addition with Counters and Ten Frames

This week in Maths, the Prep students revisited addition using hands-on tools like counters and ten frames. These visual aids helped the children represent addition problems clearly and made it easier for them to find the correct answers. By physically moving the counters and filling the ten frames, the students could see how numbers combine, building a strong foundation for their number sense.

The children really enjoyed this activity, and it is wonderful to see their confidence with addition grow.

Swimming

Our Prep students are diving into an exciting new adventure as they begin their swimming programme!

This fun and engaging experience is designed to build water confidence, teach essential swimming skills, and promote safety in and around the water. With supportive instructors and a splash of enthusiasm, our little swimmers are set to make waves while developing coordination, strength, and a lifelong love for swimming.

We are so proud of how well they have already taken to organising themselves, ensuring they have their belongings sorted, and dressing after their lessons. Please ensure your child has a cap and goggles for every lesson and that particularly if they are in Prep A and B, who leave on the bus at 9:05am, they are ready to go, ideally with their caps on, when they arrive at school before the bell.

Thank you so much to the wonderful families who have so generously volunteered their time to come and help with dressing and organising at the pool. Your help and support is greatly appreciated as always!
