Around The College

Twilight Carols

We are still basking in the glow of our Twilight Carols. It was a joyous occasion where we welcomed our community and friends to join us in celebrating the end of the year and the birth of Jesus Christ.

Our students showcased their incredible talents, through song, dance and music, fabulous costumes, and the retelling of the greatest story by Mr Cox.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of the evening, from our dedicated staff and talented students to our incredible community volunteers.

For to us a child is born,

to us a son is given,

and the government will be on his shoulders.

And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor,

Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Year 8 Equipped for a Cause

Year 8 EQUIP classes have been focusing on leadership and outreach this semester. As part of their studies, student teams selected a cause and a charity close to their hearts. Brain cancer research, mental wellbeing, animal shelters, women in sport, Compassion Australia, NASCA – Australians Supporting Young Indigenous Australians – and the United Nations were just some of the causes chosen.

Students developed their own promotional material and an outreach event idea. They then presented their projects to Mr Xeros, Head of Secondary School. There were many outstanding big ideas, including walk-a-thons, BBQs, and sporting competitions.

One team ‘Soul Sisters’, idea was to use the College Café service team, the White Dove Café, and combine it with support for the Black Dog Institute. Their idea involved tying different coloured ribbons, each with facts attached, around coffee cups. When you choose a ribbon, it connects you to a specific medical condition the group wanted to raise awareness about. Their aim was to highlight conditions such as epilepsy, anxiety, and bipolar disorder.

On Thursday, Primary and Secondary School students were invited to attend an EQUIP Mini Market Day, where each group displayed their chosen organisation and highlighted the need for support. The ‘Soul Sisters’ team, in partnership with the White Dove Café, sold many hot and cold drinks and were able to raise both money and awareness for the Black Dog Institute.

Congratulations to our Year 8 students for demonstrating their passion to help others in need. A special congratulations to the ‘Soul Sisters’ team for their initiative and support for the Black Dog Institute.

Christmas Cook

We give thanks for the students, our Canteen Assistant Emma Azer, and particularly to Mrs Kelly Fuller for organising and cooking around 100 meals to support the Community Kitchen Ministry at Wagga Wagga Baptist Church. The team baked enough curried sausages, shepherd's pie and banana butter scotch pudding to supply approximately 2 weeks of meals. Ingredients were donated by the College community.

Denim Devotees Donate to Carevan

During Term 3, College Staff were able to dress in denim on Fridays in exchange for donating to the local charity Carevan.  Carevan provides free meals and services for people in need.

Our Staff raised over $400 towards the charity.  This week, Mr Gellert, Defence School Mentor, and Mrs Newton, Community Relations Office, delivered more than twenty bags of groceries for meals and personal care items to the very appreciative Carevan team.

Pancake Breakfast

Our students celebrated the final day of the school year with a scrumptious breakfast of pancakes and fresh juice, supplied by Together Church Wagga. Pastor Bobby led a team of students in cooking and serving around 285 pancakes. It was a great way to mark the end of an exciting year of learning and community.

Our thanks to Together Church Wagga and our student volunteers.
