Transition to High School

This term, our Year 6 students took part in a seven-week Transition to High School program designed to support them as they prepare for this exciting next step. Each week focused on key topics that help students begin well including building social skills, navigating friendships, developing resilience, and learning practical ways to cope with stress. These sessions provided a safe space for students to reflect, ask questions, and consider how they can step into high school with confidence.

A highlight of the program was our final lesson, where three Year 7 students joined us for a Q-and-A session. The Year 6 students eagerly asked a wide range of questions, everything from “How much homework will we have?” and “Will I get lost trying to find my classes?” to the ever-popular “Who is the strictest teacher?” Their Year 7 peers offered honest and reassuring insights, helping to ease worries and paint a clearer picture of what high school life is really like.

It is our hope and prayer that this program has helped our Year 6 students feel more equipped, supported, and at ease as they prepare for high school next year. We are grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside them as they step into this new chapter.

Seasons For Growth

As part of our ongoing Wellbeing and Support Program. a group of Year 7 students participated in the Seasons for Growth program during Term 4. The aim of this program is to support children and young people as they navigate change, loss, and grief.

With our Year 7 cohort experiencing so many significant transitions like moving into high school, to shifting friendships, to the developmental changes that naturally come with adolescence, this term’s focus was particularly timely. Each week provided valuable space for students to talk through their unique experiences and to learn practical tools that help them process change and move forward with confidence and a positive mindset.

The program’s central metaphor of the changing seasons offers a gentle and relatable way for young people to think about life’s transitions. Just as God has designed each season with purpose, bringing both challenges and moments of beauty, students explored how their personal “seasons” also hold their own stories. They learned that while change can be uncomfortable, they have the capacity to adapt, grow, and find hope—and that no season lasts forever.

We look forward to offering Seasons for Growth again in 2026. If you believe your child would benefit from taking part, please contact the College office to express your interest.
