Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop: We continue reading, analysing and comprehending The Lorax by Dr Seuss and look forward to comparing the written text with the movie later in the term. In Writer’s Workshop, we will jump into persuasive writing and develop our writing tool kit.

Unit of Inquiry: Continuing with exploring Sustainability, Week 2 will focus on how the Earth sustains itself, with particular emphasis on the Water Cycle and Ecosystems.

Mathematics: Students will engage in learning with 2D shapes and 3D objects to identify key features and create representations. Classes will focus on composite shapes, geometric vocabulary (faces, edges, vertices, sides, angles) and engage in experiences with nets, tangrams, and cubes.

Reminders and information:

Parent Request: We are optimistically seeking expertise from any families or parents passionate about Sustainability that may have resources or time to share with our classes. Please connect with your classroom teacher.

Teacher absence: Friendly reminder that Mrs Riches will be away this week, performing in the Mary Poppins production. Mrs Lisa Pena will be taking the class for the full week.

If you are interested in coming to watch the show, Mrs Riches (as well as some other familiar faces, including Mrs Naomi Ali!) will be performing in the Thursday night and Saturday lunch time shows. Tickets available here: https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1433189
