Welcome to Term 4!

As we begin this final chapter of the academic year, I pray that it will be a time of growth, reflection, and joyful achievement for each member of our school community. This term brings with it many opportunities—whether it's preparing for final assessments, deepening friendships, or continuing to grow in faith and character. Let us approach the coming weeks with purpose and gratitude, trusting in God’s guidance and strength.

As the weather warms, we remind students to wear their full summer uniform with pride and ensure hats are worn during recess and lunch to stay sun-safe. With assessments on the horizon, it’s important for students to stay organised, seek support when needed, and give their best effort in all they do. Encouraging them and holding them accountable will help them to develop perseverance and overcome challenges.

I'm reminded of the scripture shared by College Captains Brenna and Bailey at their Graduation Assembly last term, where they observed that although one chapter is coming to an end, we know that challenges lie ahead, and God's love and our faith in Him enables us to endure and grow through them:

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. Romans 5:1-5

Celebrating Students in Industrial Technology

Our Industrial Technology Timber students, Brenna Guilfoyle and Siobhan Samatepo, have been nominated for NESA’s SHAPE Exhibition - a showcase of the very best HSC Major Projects across New South Wales.

Adding to their success, both students have also entered their projects in the Australian Wood Review Magazine’s Maker of the Year Awards, where their work has been published online. These achievements reflect their dedication, creativity, and craftsmanship.

Congratulations Siobhan and Brenna!

Inspiring Visit from Wheelchair Sports Australia

Wagga Wagga Christian College was privileged to welcome Rick from Wheelchair Sports Australia, who shared his powerful journey of living with scoliosis and the remarkable opportunities that have come from embracing a positive mindset. Rick’s story was one of determination, resilience, and achievement, having represented Australia in two Wheelchair Rugby World Cups and competed internationally in both badminton and basketball.

Students were captivated by Rick’s honesty and humour as he spoke about the challenges he has faced and the doors that opened when he chose to focus on what he could do, rather than what he couldn’t. His message resonated deeply, encouraging students to reflect on their own attitudes toward adversity and difference.

As part of the visit, students had the opportunity to participate in wheelchair basketball. The experience was eye-opening, giving them a firsthand appreciation for the skill, strength, and coordination required to play at any level. Many expressed newfound respect for athletes who compete in adaptive sports and the dedication it takes to master them.

For Year 10 students, Rick’s visit tied in meaningfully with their current unit, Respectful Relationships. His presence offered a real-world perspective on how to engage with and support individuals with physical disabilities in a way that is thoughtful, inclusive, and empowering.

We thank Rick for his time, his courage, and the inspiration he brought to our College community. His visit will be remembered not only for the fun and challenge of wheelchair basketball, but for the lasting lessons in empathy, perseverance, and respect.
