Spotlight on Learning

Stage 1

1MP has had a fantastic term of learning. We can’t wait to show you some of the things we have been doing in the previous week!

Literacy

Our focus in InitiaLit has been the suffix ‘ed’. We are becoming confident adding this to base words to create paste tense verbs.

We enjoyed learning about the structure of a letter in our literacy unit, based on the books Tilly and Wilfred Gordon McDonald Partridge. We have written letters to our 2026 Kindergarten students, sharing some of the things we love about being at Roselea PS.

Numeracy

We had lots of fun in maths this week as we explored the properties of three-dimensional objects. 1MP created their own objects, using paper nets and toothpicks and playdough.

PDHPE

It has been wonderful having Coach Mitch teach us about touch football and the importance of teamwork over the past 4 weeks. We look forward to using the skills we have learned in our future sports lessons.

Visual Arts

As we approach the warmer months, our class explored warm and cool colours in our visual arts lessons this week. We created beautiful sunset artworks by using cool colours to represent the ocean and warm colours to represent the sky.

Stage 2

Stage 2 Students Explore Neighbourhoods in Mandarin!

Stage 2 Mandarin students have been busy creating colourful maps of their local neighbourhoods, using the words and sentence structures they have learned in class. They wrote directions in Chinese to an assigned meeting place. The highlight was using iPads to record and present their imaginary neighbourhoods, turning language learning into a fun combination of creativity, technology, and storytelling!
