I’m the wee Bannock who jumped out of a pan
To run away as fast as I can.
I left the guid-wife and the guid-man
I ran from the cobbler, the wool-winder, the smith
But I’ll not run away from the likes of thee
For you folks do need a wee Bannock like me
We have been listening to Scottish tales and chasing wee bannocks through the village. We have been sculpting and drawing upon this imagery and looking into our artwork as a crystal ball, conjuring up the story it wants to tell, and writing it down. After composing a few of our own tales inspired by other folk tales from around the world we will have a chance to edit, elaborate and share or enact our favourite piece.
We have been enjoying readers theatre and story composition games as well as listening for differences between sounds and having a go at writing and spelling words with them.
In maths we are enjoying drawing scenarios of adding, subtracting, sharing and multiplying, and translating these into mathematical sentences. We have been pondering geese’s toes and how many feet and toes would be following the golden goose. We have followed the golden goose through collaborative rehearsals in silence, gibberish, melodrama and other dramatic forms and are now ready for our final week of dress rehearsals before our first performance, which you dear audience will be a part of ☺
