2026 Class structure

We are about to begin the complex process of forming classes for 2026 with the following class structure developed around the number of students at each year level:

Mainstream – 8 classes

  • 2 x Foundation/Year 1 classes

  • 1 x Year 1/2 class

  • 2 x Year 3/4 classes

  • 1 x Year 4/5 class

  • 2 x Year 5/6 classes

Steiner – 5 classes

  • 1 x Foundation class

  • 1 x Foundation/Year 1 class

  • 1 x Year 2/3 class

  • 1 x Year 3/4 class

  • 1 x 5/6 class

This is based on what we currently know about student enrolments for 2026. If you are planning on leaving TPS, it is critically important that you let us know as soon as possible, as any change in student enrolments can have an impact on the planned class structure and the formation of classes.

If you would like to make a request regarding your child’s placement, please email me at David.Wells@education.vic.gov.au by no later than Friday 7th November.

While we consider all requests, we cannot necessarily guarantee that they will be met due to the many factors that go into ensuring classes are balanced and individual student wellbeing needs are met.

Changes to Digital Devise use

From 2027, the Victorian Government is introducing changes to the use of digital devices for students from Prep to Grade 6.

Under the new guidelines, schools:

  • will no longer invite families to purchase or bring their own digital devices to use at school for Prep to Grade 6
  • will follow new recommended digital device times, including minimal device time for Prep to Grade 2; and a maximum of 90 minutes per day for grades 3 to 6.

These changes are intended to support families by reducing cost-of-living pressures. They will also support students by reducing screen-time which can reduce the risk of eye strain, sedentary behaviour, and reduced peer interaction. These reforms complement Victoria’s nation-leading mobile phone restrictions, ensuring an integrated approach to addressing digital distraction and the inappropriate use of technology.

What this means for our school

We already provide school-owned digital devices for student learning, so there is no impact on our school with regard to a bring your own device (BYOD) program.

Students with disability who use a digital device as a reasonable adjustment are exempt from these changes.

You can read more about the changes on the department’s website: Digital Learning: Policy | VIC.GOV.AU | Policy and Advisory Library

World Teachers’ Day

World Teachers' Day will be celebrated in Victoria on Friday 31 October 2025. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) established World Teachers’ Day in 1994 to recognise the role of teachers in society. The focus for this year’s celebration is: recasting teaching as a collaborative profession.

This day is an opportunity for staff, students and the wider school community to recognise and acknowledge the work that teachers do. Please reach out to your child’s teacher/s to acknowledge them on this day.
