Principal Message

Be Kind, Be safe, Be respectful, Be responsible, Be resilient, Be ready
Dear Parents and Carers,
We all know what time school finishes, and we all know it may take a few minutes to get to the pick-up zone. Some days we are in more of a hurry to get somewhere BUT that is no excuse for impatience and/or rudeness.
Patience in the school carpark isn’t just a virtue—it’s a necessity for keeping everyone safe and sane. Here’s why it matters so much:
Safety First
Children are unpredictable: Kids dart between cars, forget to look both ways, or get distracted. A patient driver is a vigilant one. Congestion creates risk: With so many vehicles and pedestrians in a small space, rushing increases the chance of accidents.
Stress Reduction
Everyone’s in a hurry, but impatience only fuels frustration. A calm approach helps keep tempers in check and sets a positive tone for the day. Modeling good behavior: Kids notice how adults handle stress. Showing patience teaches them emotional regulation and respect.
Community Courtesy
We’re all in this together: A school carpark is a shared space. Being considerate—letting someone merge, waiting your turn—builds a stronger, kinder school community.
Staff and volunteers deserve respect: Many carparks are managed by teachers or parent volunteers. Patience shows appreciation for their efforts.
Long-Term Thinking
A few extra minutes now can prevent long-term consequences: Whether it’s a fender bender or a child getting hurt, the cost of impatience is far greater than the inconvenience of waiting.
Keep smiling
Cathy
