Clever Kids

Kindergarten:
KJ
During the second half of this term, we celebrated Book Week by dressing up as some wonderful characters. We all had a try of delivering a speech to the class, which is quite a scary thing to do – well done KJ!
Miss Cadona came on board during my absence and welcomed our parents and grandparents into our classroom, completing a checklist of activities there and around the school.
After nearly giving up on them, our silkworms finally hatched! They were so small but are growing very quickly. We use the mulberry leaves from the tree outside the school grounds which is very handy, as they are eating so much and getting very large and fat. We can’t wait to watch them spin silk cocoons and transform into moths!
To top off the term was our fabulous farm excursion!
A big thank you to Miss Cadona for working with KJ for 2 weeks. Much appreciated!
Only one term left of Kindy!!!!!!!!!!!!
KP
A huge term, lots happening for KP and the whole school.
Book Character parade, grandparents’ day, NAIDOC week and Wear Yellow Day just to name a few.
Students dressed up for book character parade and were very excited to parade in front of friends and family. They all looked amazing.
Lots of grandparents and other family members came along for grandparents day/ NAIDOC and celebrated with the students. Spending time in the classrooms and getting shown around the school.
KP have done lots of learning using natural items collected from the school grounds. Along with, lots of hands-on mathematics, with cards, counters and dice.
In English, KP have been learning about different types of books. Fiction and non-fiction and author’s purpose.
Plenty of fun during SISA.
The end of this term has come around very fast. One term to go KP. Very exciting.
Looking forward to a great last term. I do hope that it goes a little slower though as it is always sad to say good-bye.
Stage 1:
1/2B
Term 3 has been action packed! We dressed up in fun and fabulous costumes to celebrate book week. It was great to watch the students of 1/2B celebrating their favourite books and characters. We also had our grandparents visit for grandparents day! The students in 1/2B loved showing their nans, pops, nonnas, opas, abuelas, baba, popa, grandmas and grandpas their work and giving them a tour of the school.
1/2B have been having a wonderful time embracing the change of season by spending more time outdoors! They've been enjoying learning outside on the verandah chalkboards, practicing their spelling in a fun and active way. On the oval, the students have been playing a robot game that helps them use positional words like over, under, left, and right. They’ve also been exploring our school grounds to discover natural, built, and managed features, making learning an exciting adventure in their own environment.
1/2G
1/2G have had a busy and exciting few weeks of learning! In English, we’ve been exploring the purpose of different texts and enjoying our class novel, James and the Giant Peach. We have also been developing our writing skills by describing character traits.
In Mathematics, we’ve been learning how to solve subtraction problems using mathematical stories and number lines. In Science, we are investigating the phases of the sun and moon, while in Geography, we are discovering the wonders of the world.
In PDHPE, our focus has been on keeping ourselves safe and learning how to say “no” if someone crosses a boundary.
We’ve also been taking advantage of the beautiful sunny weather by getting outside to play and enjoy the fresh air as often as possible!
1/2M
What an incredibly busy and exciting term we have had! From learning about narratives and characters in writing, to increasing our knowledge about related number facts and position in maths. We became mini experts in weather patterns, something we continue to practise each day. Our families visiting us was a highlight, as they got to do some special activities with us and see how much we have learned so far! Most of us participated in the Public Speaking Competition and we are extremely proud of Janora for advancing to the next level. We have also begun rehearsing our song for the upcoming production in Term 4. We think you will be amazed by our acting and singing skills!
We are very much looking forward to a well-earned break.
Stage 2:

3/4M
Ayla Whiddon – Year 3
Hi, my name is Ayla, and I would like to talk about what my favourite subject in school is. Well, it’s probably maths because I get to learn multiplication, division, addition and subtraction. Even though sometimes it is a challenge for me, I try my best and that’s all that matters. Currently in maths we have been learning about positional language, equivalent fractions and chance. Each lesson is engaging and different and I can’t wait to see what maths we will be learning about next term!
Dimitriy McGaffin – Year 4
We have had lots of events happening this term in 3/4M. Some of which include Grandparent’s Day, Book week parade and our upcoming level 0 reward day. Level 0 reward day is such a fun day because all the students who have not been on a level get the opportunity to participate in fun and exciting activities, while spending time with friends.
We have been exploring new topics across a range of subjects including learning about the human body in health. Some of the lesson grossed the class out but we all got through it quick enough, and everyone had a giggle here and there. In maths we are learning a new topic called ‘Visual representations help to understand aspects of the world (chance and position)’. I am enjoying it because it helps me to learn and understand directions and the points on a compass and how landmarks are essential in helping with directions. We are exploring the topic of fire in our English unit and working together as a class to create our own class poem about fire. I am looking forward to what next term will bring!

Celebrating Achievements and Culture: Exciting Times in 4LH
4LH has been buzzing with excitement over the past few weeks, packed with memorable events and special moments! A huge shoutout to our very own Baneen, who impressed us all by making it to the finals of the Premier’s Spelling Bee—what an incredible achievement! Our gala days have been a fantastic opportunity to connect. Being part of the three-way interview process this term alongside our teachers and families, fostering strong partnerships and sharing goals has been a fantastic experience.
While the rain tried to dampen our plans by cancelling a few events, including the athletics carnival, we’ve been making the most of it by rescheduling and enjoying every moment to the fullest. One of the standout highlights was our vibrant NAIDOC celebration last week. We were thrilled to welcome families into our open classrooms, sharing our learning and creativity together. A particular highlight was performing a multimedia video for the NAIDOC assembly, bringing to life the Dreamtime story of Tiddalick the Frog—a powerful way to connect with culture and storytelling.
With so much behind us, we’re eagerly looking forward to the next five weeks in Year 4, ready for more learning adventures and unforgettable experiences!
Stage 3
This term, our Stage 3 students were engaged in a range of exciting and enriching activities designed to foster learning, community connection, and personal growth. We celebrated Grandparents Day, providing a special opportunity for students to connect with their family heritage. During Education Week, students participated in various events showcasing their learning and creativity.
Our Buddy Lessons program continued, encouraging positive relationships and collaboration across all classes within the school.
Our Indigenous students had access to the Opportunity Hub, supporting their cultural connection and academic success.
As part of preparing for the next stage of their education, students attended Transition Days for High School, helping them to feel confident and ready for this important change. Our debating program continued to develop critical thinking and public speaking skills, while the Book Fair and Book Parade inspired a love of reading and creativity.
Finally, students undertook Check-in Assessments to help track their progress and tailor learning support where needed.
We look forward to a dynamic and rewarding term ahead!
