Why Energy Drinks Are Not Permitted at School

At Whittlesea Primary School, we care about the health and wellbeing of all our students. For this reason, energy drinks are not permitted at school. These drinks often contain very high levels of caffeine and sugar, which can have negative effects on children.

Energy drinks can cause students to feel jittery, anxious, or have trouble concentrating in class. The high caffeine content can also lead to headaches, stomach aches, and difficulty sleeping. In addition, the large amounts of sugar can cause a short burst of energy followed by a “crash,” making it harder for students to stay focused throughout the day. Our goal is to support healthy habits that help students learn and feel their best. Water is the best option for staying hydrated during the school day. By keeping energy drinks out of school, we’re helping every student stay calm, focused, and ready to learn.

Nude Foods  (& reducing litter in the yard)

At our school, we encourage students to bring nude foods; snacks and lunches without disposable packaging. Choosing nude foods helps reduce waste and protect our environment by cutting down on single-use plastics. It also promotes healthy eating, as these foods are often fresh and less processed. Bringing food in reusable containers keeps our school grounds clean and teaches students to make sustainable choices .

Labelling School Uniform

We need to label school uniforms so they can be identified. School uniforms look the same, so if an item is lost or mixed up, having a name label makes it easy to return it to the right student. Labelling helps save time, reduces stress for students and families, and prevents the need to replace lost items. It also teaches students responsibility and care for their belongings.
