Learning in Year 5

What an incredible start to our final term of Year 5!
Week 1 was all about production, with our 5/6s shining on stage in main roles and ensemble. All of their hard work rehearsing certainly paid off, as Shrek Jr was a major success!
Last week we enjoyed a visit from Ringwood Secondary's Band Tour and the whole-school Colour Run, both of which were a lot of fun!
English
On Wednesday 29th October, the 5s wow-ed us again in their Speech Night. The whole evening was run by the students including MCs, ushers and quiz masters. The real highlights were the amazing heartfelt speeches delivered. Miss Syme and Ms Jay were blown away and are very proud of each and every student.
Maths
This month we have been revising our learning from the year. The students have been consolidating lots of concepts including fractions, decimals, percentages, perimeter, area, length, volume and capacity. We are looking forward to starting a spending project to finish off, revising finances that we picked up from our Wages, Work & the World unit last term.
Integrated
Our new topic of Disasters Unleashed has started with a bang! Students have been learning about the different types of disasters that affect our world. We have explored how our Earth and communities are impacted and are now looking at how to prepare for disasters. We will be starting our News Report project soon where students will act out a news segment reporting on a fictional natural disaster.
