Learning in Year 3

We’ve had an exciting start to the term, kicking off with our Whole School Production of Shrek the Musical. What a spectacular two nights! It was an absolute joy to watch our students light up the stage after months of dedication and rehearsals. A huge thank you to Mrs. Murray, our wonderful Performing Arts teacher—her energy and enthusiasm could be felt across the entire school!

Last week our school was bursting with colour and laughter as students took part in our annual Colour Run! Everyone had a fantastic time running, dodging, and weaving their way through the bright, powder-filled obstacles. Smiles, cheers, and a splash of every colour filled the air as students, staff, and families joined in the fun. It was a wonderful celebration of community spirit, and well done to Mr Warren-Smith and Mrs Watson for being such great sports by being slimed!!!!

In Maths, we’ve begun our Chance and Probability unit. Students have been exploring real-life applications through fun games using dice, playing cards and spinners to predict outcomes. Then we moved into collecting and graphing data using meaningful, real-world examples.

Our Integrated Studies focus this term has been on Forces, including Gravity, Friction, and Magnetism. Students have enjoyed hands-on mini experiments to test how different forces work in action. This week, we participated in our Hands On Science incursion, where students explored magnetism and forces through a range of exciting, interactive activities that brought these concepts to life.

Following this Integrated Unit, we’ll turn our attention back to Antarctica, exploring its animals, climate and landscapes. Towards the end of the term, students will be creating their own Antarctic dioramas, so please keep an eye out for small boxes or shoe boxes — we’ll begin collecting them over the next few weeks.
