Principal's Update

Dear Parents and Carers,

Next week is the last week of the Term and 1st Semester. The children have done a great job working hard right through to the very end of an 11 week term. On behalf of all the staff I would like to thank and congratulate the children on their fantastic achievements. I would also like to thank the parents for their contributions and ongoing support in the education of their children. We pray that everyone has a safe and restful holiday and that we all return refreshed and ready to start the second half of the year.

Lord,

As we approach our mid-year break, we pray for ourselves and for our world.

We thank you for the luxury of holidays, for refreshment and rest from work.

We pray for those without the luxury of holidays. May your peace be known in their daily lives.

We pray for health and for all whose holiday is an escape from over-busy or unfulfilled lives.

We pray for justice and fairness for those in our third world countries who are underpaid and overworked, and those who are struggling with the ongoing effects of war and fighting.

Lord, make yourself known to us afresh, that all our days may become holy days, to the glory of your name.

Amen.

Deepest Sympathy

Our deepest sympathy goes out to Oscar Daniels-Colelough (Gr 2 Matt) and his family on the sudden passing of Oscar’s mother, Sarah, on Tuesday morning. Oscar returned to school yesterday to be with his friends and teachers who have been by his side giving him the love and support he needs. Please keep Oscar and his family in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.

Learning Conversations

A reminder to all families to book their times for Learning Conversations being held on the 1st and 2nd July in the school library. Bookings can be made on PAM. It is an expectation that all families will attend the Learning Conversations, as they are a major part of the holistic approach that St. Mary’s has towards the reporting process.

Swimming P-2 Program

A reminder to all parents that our P-2 swimming program commences week 2 of next term. The children will go every Thursday from the 31st July to 11th September. Next term, please look on PAM to give permission for your child to participate. If you do not wish for your child to participate, please let their teacher know.

Also, to assist with groupings, I ask that Prep parents indicate the competency of their child in the survey that was sent out, if you haven’t already done so.

Prep Enrolments for 2026

Prep enrolments will be finalised by early next term. Therefore, if you have any extended family or friends intending on enrolling their child next year, it would be greatly appreciated if you could pass this information on to them, so they can arrange for a meeting and a tour of the school. I request all existing families that have a child starting in Prep next year, submit their enrolment form as soon as possible.

Welcome to Alyce

This week we welcome new LSO, Alyce Barry to our staff. We look forward to Alyce being a part of our St. Mary’s team.

Colds / Flu

We continue to have many children away with colds and flu as the season of Winter is well upon us. This week we haved averaged over 40 children a day absent.  Again, I thank parents and carers for being so vigilant in keeping unwell children at home.

Biggest Morning Tea / Classroom Visits

Last Friday our Biggest Morning Tea was held in the MPR to raise money for the Cancer Council. Before the BMT and straight after prayer gathering, parents and grandparents were invited to take the time to visit the Grade 5/6 classrooms to see the wonderful work children have been producing throughout the term.  Well done to our Grade 6 Social Justice Team for organising the event.

Enjoy the rest of your week.
