Child Safe Standards

The Child Safe Standards are a compulsory framework that supports organisations to promote the safety of children by requiring them to implement policies to prevent, respond to and report allegations of child abuse and harm. This includes building a culture of safety, empowering children to speak up, and ensuring staff are trained and committed to child safety. By following these standards, Good Shepherd staff play a crucial role in protecting students and fostering a supportive, respectful school community. Over the next semester, we will be sharing information about the Child Safe Standards to both staff and the community.
The following video and poster summarises each of the standards.
Taking Children's Safety Seriously: The 11 Child Safe Standards in Victoria
Child Safe Standard 1 – Organisations establish a culturally safe environment in which the diverse and unique identities and experiences of Aboriginal children and young people are respected and valued.
Good Shepherd is working to make sure all young people, including Aboriginal children feel safe, respected, and valued. This means recognising and celebrating their culture, listening to their voices, and including Aboriginal perspectives in school life. We want every child to feel included and protected. Good Shepherd does not tolerate racism and any discrimination will be addressed quickly and appropriately.
