Whole School Assembly & Early Dismissal – Friday 2:30 pm

This Friday, we will be holding our Whole School Assembly at 2:00 pm in the hall. Families are warmly invited to attend as we come together to celebrate student achievements and share some end-of-term highlights.

Please note that school will finish early at 2:30 pm on this day. To accommodate the schedule change, students will have a shortened lunch break at 1:00 pm instead of the usual 1:30 pm.

Beaver's Tail lunch orders will not be available on Friday.

We look forward to seeing you at our final assembly for the term!

Curriculum Day – Thursday 24th July (Term 3 Commencement)

A friendly reminder that Thursday, 24th July, marks the fourth day of Term 3; however, it will be a Curriculum Day and students will not be in attendance.

TheriCare will be offering a full-day care service for families who require support on this day. Bookings can be made directly through the TheriCare platform.

Our staff will be engaging in a full day of professional learning with Dr Nathaniel Swain, a highly respected researcher, teacher, and advocate for evidence-based literacy instruction. Dr Swain is known nationally for his work in educational neuroscience and the science of learning, particularly in the fields of structured literacy, cognitive load theory, and explicit teaching. He is the founder of the Think Forward Educators network and has contributed to major education reforms focused on equity and excellence for all learners.

We are thrilled to welcome Dr Swain back to Ripponlea Primary School for the second time this year, continuing our shared commitment to research-informed teaching practice and strengthening student outcomes across all year levels.

We look forward to a productive day of learning and collaboration!

Save the Date: Whole School Athletics Carnival – Monday 11th August

Duncan Mackinnon Reserve

We are thrilled to announce that our Whole School Athletics Carnival will be held on Monday 11th August at Duncan Mackinnon Reserve. This exciting event is a highlight on the Ripponlea Primary School calendar and brings together students from Foundation to Year 6 for a full day of friendly competition, teamwork and physical challenge.

All students will travel by bus to the venue and participate in a variety of athletic events including relays, sprints, long jump, high jump, vortex throw, and more. With guidance and encouragement from Susie Massey, Mr Rambaran, and our House Captains, the day promises to be a fun and spirited celebration of sportsmanship and school pride.

This year, we are especially eager to see who will claim victory in the inaugural 2025 House Athletics Carnival – will it be Tunparrim, Bemin Boorong, or Warren? House spirit will be on full display, and we encourage students to come dressed in their house colours, ready to cheer and compete with enthusiasm.

To help make this day a success, we are looking for volunteers to assist with events, supervision and general support throughout the day. If you’re available and would like to lend a hand, please contact Perrine at the office. Your support makes a big difference, and we’d love to have as many families involved as possible.

A COMPASS notification with full details will be sent out tomorrow. Please keep an eye out for permission forms and further information.

Let the countdown begin to one of the most exciting days of Term 3!

Before School & After School Supervision

Student safety at Ripponlea Primary School is our highest priority and the safe and appropriate supervision of students is an important element of our duty of care to students. Part of this duty is ensuring parents and students are aware of our student supervision arrangements before and after school.

Before school: School grounds are supervised at 8:45am to 9:00am. Only the basketball court play area is supervised. Students are not permitted on the eastern-end playground (oval) before 9:00am.

After school: School grounds are supervised at 3:30 pm to 3:45 pm. Only the basketball court play area is supervised. Students are not permitted on the eastern-end playground (oval) after 3:30pm unless participating in a pre-arranged activity e.g.  Sports X.

NB: Students on school grounds outside these times will not be supervised (unless they are attending a before or after school care program or supervised extracurricular activity.

Students must be under the supervision of a parent/carer if they are on the school grounds before 8.45am or after 3.45pm. RPS will not accept responsibility for students arriving at school prior to 8.45am or remaining at school after 3.45pm.

Parents/carers are requested to ensure that students do not attend school outside of these supervised times, unless they are attending before- or after-school care, or a pre-arranged supervised activity (e.g. Sport practice - Netball/Basketball Ripper Teams ).

Families are encouraged to contact the Principal or Assistant Principal on 0395275728 or refer to Yard Duty & Supervision Policy for more information about the before and after-school care facilities available to our school community or if you would like any further information about our student supervision arrangements.

For a copy of our school’s Yard Duty and Supervision Policy, parents can access a copy of the full policy on the school’s website, the COMPASS parent portal, or contact the school office. This policy includes Ripponlea Primary School’s student supervision arrangements across the school day, including before and after school.
