From the Year 2 Classroom

It's hard to believe we have come to the end of term already. The students have worked really hard and are looking forward to a well-earned break. It has certainly been a busy two weeks, and the students have done some amazing work. We hope you enjoy the holidays, and we are looking forward to Term 3.
Literacy: We have finished off this term with some non-fiction narrative writing as well as a recount of our excursion day at Echuca. The students have learnt to weave facts into a narrative of an animal growing up. We have been consolidating their learning in Grammar, revising verbs, adverbs and prepositions. We have finished reading 'The Story of Rosy Duck' in Storybook lessons and they loved discussing the storyline and illustrations.
Maths: Maths has seen us revisit formal algorithms with regrouping. Students have looked at adding and subtracting two-digit numbers with 'remainders' or 'borrowing' in the old speak! We have ended the term with some Open-ended Worded Problems.
Inquiry: We have finished off our unit on Geography with a poster of the students' country of choice, highlighting important information about the country. The students have learnt about hemispheres, equator, seasons, and weather differences.
Excursion: What a fantastic time we had in Echuca. The students we wonderful and enjoyed learning about Push and Pull Forces and the Weather. They performed some experiments and completed some activities related to the topics. They finished their time at Twisted Science on the 'science floor' exploring with a range of items and activities. The only disappointing part of our day was when the rain came and cut short our play at the park.
Enjoy the holidays
