PRAYER

Soul of Christ, sanctify me.

Body of Christ, save me.

Blood of Christ, inebriate me.

Water from the side of Christ, wash me.

Passion of Christ, strengthen me.

O good Jesus, hear me.

Within thy wounds hide me.

Suffer me not to be separated from thee.

From the malicious enemy defend me.

In the hour of my death call me and bid me

come unto thee that with thy saints

I may praise thee forever and ever.

Amen.

From the Principal

Dear Parents,

A reminder that next week you are invited to our ‘open classroom’ afternoon on Tuesday 17 June from 3.00pm, or the repeated session on Wednesday 18 June from 9.15am. These sessions will allow you to engage with your child in his/her learning environment. You will see our teachers’ commitment to evidence-based instruction and the active promotion of student voice in teaching and learning across the breadth of the curriculum. Further, you will see the stages of teaching, from introduction of new content to independent practice. We hope you will be able to attend one of the sessions.

Assessment and Reporting

Teachers are currently finalising assessments in preparation for Semester One reports. They will use students' work samples and other data and make supported judgements for their report writing. The reporting on Mathematics this semester will reflect the teaching and learning based on the updated Mathematics Curriculum. Further details regarding the new version of Mathematics are shown in the attachment.

Parents will be able to access the Semester One reports via the Parent Access Module (PAM). The reports will be published on Monday, 23 June. Student Learning Conferences will be held in Term 3 as a follow up to students’ progress and their future learning.

Student Leadership

Next Wednesday our Grade 6 leaders will engage in a student leadership session led by the City of Whitehorse at The Round Theatre on the Council's grounds.  The aim of the session is to provide children with a platform to engage with Council in a consultative and creative way; to express their opinions about the city in which they live in; to provide an opportunity for teams within Council to engage with children on their work to help inform future projects; and to develop students' skills, ability and confidence to have a voice in their community.

REPTILE ENCOUNTER INCURSION

I saw lots of reptiles, some of them were small and some big, and I even held a snake it was really fun.

Aria

I touched a turtle, a crocodile and a snake. I saw a frog, turtle, crocodile, insect and snakes. That was so fun.

Raph.

I liked the reptile incursion because we were allowed to touch the reptiles, Cheryl and Shrek.

Azelie

My opinion about the reptile incursion is Tiny, the biggest python, and Snappy the saltwater crocodile are very, very, very, very, very GOOD!!!

Riccardo

There were loads of animals and a stick bug. I even got to hold a snake. The snake was squishy. - GEMMA

On the 11th of June, we had a reptile incursion, and it was the best! I got to hold a python! It felt really squishy. - FRANCIS

Reptile Encounter Incursion Artwork

We used our imagination, or we researched how to sketch a reptile. First, we sketched in pencil. Then we were tracing with black oil pastel.  After tracing, we used tissue paper and our fingers to create our reptile designs.  We did this by dipping them in paint.

Aria and Raphael

Visual Art

Our students are very creative and have wonderful imaginations, they are able to construct artwork from materials found in the art room. Here are a few samples, which are currently on display in the Loreto building.

Winter Planting - Kitchen Garden
