Middle school concert
The middle school band concert featured a special debut performance by our talented year 7 students. After only a term of learning, these young musicians showcased their newfound skills and enthusiasm for music.
The concert was in the Performing Arts Theatre, providing a wonderful opportunity for family and friends to support and celebrate the students' hard work and dedication of the year 7, 8 and 9 students.
Congratulations to all those students who were involved and performed to such a high standard on the night.
Celebrating Musical Success at Aberfoyle Park High School
Last term, guided by our music teacher Ms Ros Sarre, four of our talented students in preparing an entry for Musica Viva's 'Strike a Chord' competition. This prestigious event aims to inspire young musicians to explore and develop a passion for chamber music.
For the first time, our students participated in the foundation category of this nationwide competition. Under Ros's expert guidance, the group recorded their entry during week 11 of term 1.
And now, we are delighted to announce that their hard work and dedication have been recognised with an achievement award, accompanied by some very positive feedback from the judges.
This accomplishment is particularly noteworthy as it marks the first time this group has participated in such a competition, showcasing their talent on a national stage.
We extend our congratulations to the students involved: Remy - year 12, Lucie - year 9, Anh - year 10 and Amelia S - year 8.
A special thank you goes to Ms Ros Sarre for her unwavering dedication and hard work in mentoring and supporting our students. Her commitment has been instrumental in their success and has undoubtedly inspired them to continue their musical journey.
This achievement not only highlights the talent within our school but also underscores the importance of fostering a love for music in young people. We look forward to seeing more of our students participate in such enriching experiences in the future.
Visual art
Year 9 art Lino printmaking - Greek Mythology, Torres Strait Islander Astronomy and popular culture
In this unit of work, year 9 art students explored the rich cultural traditions of ancient Greek mythology and Torres Strait Islander astronomy. Through both analytical and practical tasks, students examined how different cultures have interpreted the stars and used oral storytelling to explain natural phenomena.
After researching and comparing the two traditions, students developed their own lino print designs, drawing inspiration from the myths and celestial stories of both cultures. They were also encouraged to incorporate a modern element from popular culture related to space or astronomy, allowing them to reflect on the ongoing human fascination with the cosmos across time and media.
Students experimented with lino cutting techniques, tested materials, and refined their compositions to create a series of unique prints. The works displayed here each represent a personal and imaginative interpretation of myth, space, and storytelling, bringing together tradition, creativity, and contemporary influence.
We are proud to share these thoughtful and creative works with you.
Drama
Year 9 and 10 successful drama performance
On the evening of Wednesday 11 June 2025, the Performing Arts Centre was filled with excitement and anticipation as the year 9 and 10 drama students took to the stage to perform "FLESH" by Rob Drummond.
The event was a resounding success, showcasing the incredible talent and dedication of our young performers. The students faced complex demands, having to create their own character trajectories, histories and performances.
Their hard work and commitment were evident in every scene, leaving the audience thoroughly impressed.
A special mention goes to the technical crew—Heidi A, Ainsley D, Joe F and Ella R whose efforts behind the scenes ensured a seamless production.
We extend our gratitude to the staff, families and friends who attended and supported the event.
Congratulations to all the students and staff involved in making this event a memorable success.
Dance
Congratulations to Koda C, one of our year 12 students, who recently achieved success at the recent Count me In Dance Competition held on 3 and 4 May.
Competing against talented dancers from across the region, Koda showcased exceptional skill and dedication, earning well-deserved placings of two firsts, two seconds, and one third also winning the tap dancing championship in the competition.
This achievement highlights the hard work and passion that Koda has invested in his dance journey.
We are proud of his accomplishment and look forward to seeing his continued growth and success in future competitions.
A Note from Koda
"I have always enjoyed not only dancing itself but teaching dance to others. I believe that a dancer's skill comes from not only the hard work and dedication they put into the art, but also a great teacher, and an exceptional connection between student and teacher. Dance can be competitive, but it is more importantly a Performing Art; it should be where you go to enjoy yourself and express yourself through poetic, and rhythmic movements."
