Biggest Morning Tea success
Our recent Biggest Morning Tea, organised by the year 12 students and school captains, was a resounding success. This special event brought together students and staff to raise funds for the Cancer Council, creating a memorable day filled with fun and camaraderie.
Event Highlights:
Guess the teacher wall: This engaging activity was a big hit. Participants enjoyed guessing which teacher matched the adorable reception photos. Thank you to everyone who contributed their photos and made this activity a success.
Wear your year 12 school jumper: Nostalgia was in the air as attendees donned their old Year 12 gear for a group photo. It was a wonderful moment to reminisce and celebrate the journey of our year 12 students.
The community spirit was evident as everyone contributed a plate to share for morning tea. Gold coins were collected for games and fun activities, adding to the lively atmosphere.

Legal studies excursion
In weeks 4 and 5 this term, the year 10, 11 and 12 legal studies classes each attended the Adelaide Law Courts to see the legal system in action. They observed a diverse range of matters including witness testimony given at a murder trial, bail applications, traffic offences, the issuing of arrest warrants and, confrontingly, the victim impact statement of a mother grieving for her murdered son.
Students therefore learned not only about the formal processes by which these matters were resolved, but also the strong emotions that those impacted by crime or drawn into the legal system can experience.
On a lighter note, when in one courtroom the students were given the opportunity, one of our students, Chester T. bravely approached the bar table to ask several questions of the Magistrate, including - rather directly - how much he was paid.
Overall, the students observed a good range of criminal matters and learned a lot about the practical application of some of the principles and processes they had studied in class.

Exploring Identities and Futures (EIF) semester recap
Exploring Identities and Futures (EIF) is a new compulsory SACE subject which has been undertaken by all year 10 students for the first time this semester. EIF has replaced the Personal Learning Plan (PLP).
EIF is a dynamic subject that is designed to empower students through enhancing learner agency. Students discovered their personal identities and envisioned their future pathways whilst engaging in various activities and tasks.
Over the semester, students were involved in completing their EIF folios, where they explored their identity and future. Students had very creative and different responses to this task, including posters, folders, presentations, and videos.
Students were also involved in planning and creating a community activity for their second EIF task. There were some incredible responses to this task, and most students organised various events or fundraisers for this. These included (but were not limited to):
Donation drives
Bake sales
Sausage sizzles
Jewellery creation for fundraising
Guess the lollies in the jar competitions
Running for cancer
Advocating for causes through poster/presentation creation
Students raised the following amounts for various charities through activities/stalls held at school:
Save the Children Australia - $222
Adelaide Koala & Wildlife Centre - $71.30
Royal Flying Doctor Service – $228.40
Hutt Street Centre - $160.90
RSPCA South Australia - $510.60
Bladder Cancer - $79.20
Australian Refugee Association - $99.75
Foyer Foundation - $103
The total raised for all charities is thus $1,475.15.
Finally, students were involved in Showcase of Learning Presentations where they summarised their learning journey over the semester. Parents, caregivers, relatives and trusted adults were present to see and hear their amazing accomplishments this semester.
Congratulations to all year 10 students for their hard work.

Students get hands-on experience in wet trades at TAFE SA
Earlier this term, a few year 9 and 10 students from Aberfoyle Park High School took part in the Wet Trades Try a Trade program at TAFE SA’s Tonsley Campus. This hands-on, five week course introduced students to the fundamentals of bricklaying, tiling, solid plastering, paving and wall and ceiling lining.
Held one day a week from 16 May to 13 June, each full-day session, from 9:00am to 3:00pm, was delivered by experienced instructors and gave students practical experience with tools and materials used in the construction industry.
Throughout the program, our students actively engaged in a variety of trade tasks—laying bricks and tiles, plastering walls, fixing plasterboard and more. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to explore different trade areas, develop new skills, and get a real sense of what a future career in building and construction might look like.
The program was an excellent stepping stone for those considering a trade pathway, helping them make informed decisions about their future training and career options.
Well done to Ricky, Connor, Michael and Rhys for engaging and learning about what it like to be part of a trade. The TAFE teachers could not speak more highly of you.
