Student Travel Assistance Portal (STAP) - FAQ

Students travelling on Portland/Heywood, Casterton & Town Buses DO NOT use this system.

This bus system is for the Government School Buses (Country Bus) 

MAIN ISSUE : this needs to be applied for EVERY YEAR; renewal for the next year travel or Term 1 travel is first day of Term 4 each year, DEET will notify families when applications are due for renewal.

When should I apply or reapply ?

As soon the next years applications open (first day of Term 4), that way if you come into problems, there is plenty of time to sort it out.

I have applied, why is the school contacting me to say my child is not on the list ?

There are 3 steps to the application each year : 1. Apply/reapply for travel. 2. Receive offer from DEET (Usually within 24 hours) 3. Accept the Offer (until the offer is accepted by you the child is not eligible for travel. ALSO, offers have a limited life span, they WILL lapse)

I have received an offer and my children are placed on different buses ?

Unfortunately, this has been a reoccurring issue. Please contact Michelle in the Finance Office immediately so she can help with the issue.  DO NOT leave this problem until January.

My child was registered in Primary School, what do I do now ?

You still use the same family account, However it is a new application, do not renew.

Why do I have to apply each term ?

This will occur if you are a fee payer to use the bus.  As you are required to pay DEET prior to travel you are required to apply each term.

Why is my child on a waitlist ?

We do have a few routes that are at capacity, unless you reapply/apply early you will not be guaranteed a seat on a bus.  Should you be on any of these routes you will be advised.  However, unless you complete your application and accept the offer you may be waitlisted.
