SCHOOL LEADERSHIP MESSAGE

 PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Our Middle School students had year level assemblies this week in ACE. As part of this we shared the results of the annual Student Attitudes to School Survey that they completed earlier this year. The tremendous gains made in many areas of the survey, as well as the positive culture around our school every day, has been achieved through the hard work of students, parents, and staff over many years. It was nice to be able to celebrate these results together this week.

There are also some areas for us to continue to work on, as found through both the survey results and observations around the school. We are all going to continue to work on how we respect our school environment. All members of our school spend hundreds of hours at school each year, and our building works over the last five years mean we have some wonderful buildings and landscaping. Showing respect to our school environment is an act of self-care, and a gift we can offer others, by ensuring that the environment which is such a large part of all of our lives at the moment is a pleasant place to be.

Our school finalised its leadership structure for next year this week, with the appointment of Ryan Blake to a Learning Specialist role for 2024. Ryan’s work will focus on developing our signature programs in 2024 including ACE (our signature support program), Like Minds (our signature extension and enrichment program), and Activate (our signature alternative learning environment program). Ryan will join myself (Principal), Naomi Coleman and Bekk Anthony (Assistant Principals), Chris Cronin (Head of Middle School), Nicole Creaser (Head of Senior School) and Ellen Sorrell (Learning Specialist) on our Leadership Team next year. The staffing across our school remains very strong for 2024 and I look forward to working with our wonderful Leadership Team, and all staff in 2024.

Melbourne Cup weekend always provides a nice mid-term break in a busy Term 4. There is no school for students on Monday next week and many staff will also be enjoying a well earned four-day weekend by acquitting Time in Lieu accrued through camps and other activities throughout the year. Our exam period for Year 8 – 11 students starts on Wednesday next week, running until Thursday 16th November.
