Numeracy Week celebrations!
During Week 8 of term 4, we celebrated Numeracy week that the students participated at lunchtimes throughout the week. We had guess the number of jelly beans in a jar, trivia questions each day and lunchtime activities!
One of the lunchtime activities was the Treasure Hunt which was very tensed between the student groups, they were sprinting to the secret location which was the canteen! The amount of jelly beans in the jar was 486 so the winner is Kim Lee Cheang who guessed 480 jelly beans! A big thank you to Bilal Mohamed, Tyson Ho and Kim Lee Cheang for going around the school asking and recording staff and students guesses to the jelly bean jar and also to Mr Andy Tran, Mr Hieu Minh Tran, Ms Lucy Chieng, Ms Li, Mr Mahmood, Mr Zhao and Mr C for running to lunchtime activities!
Well done to all the winners in the numeracy week activities

'MOULIN ROUGE' - 'Behind the scenes'
Westall Secondary College was invited by the Mariner Group to attend a 'behind the scenes' for the musical production - 'Moulin Rouge' at the Regent Theatre, Melbourne.
The students were privileged to see what goes on behind the scenes in a major stage show. They were exposed to the endless career opportunities to industry has to offer.
We were excited to watch the opening scene of the Moulin Rouge which set the tone for the rest of the presentation given by the character 'Zidler' - Simon Burke AO.
The Westall students watched live demonstrations of lighting, prop, and costume changes, as well as sound engineering. Most exciting to watch was the costume parade. It was an 'eye and mind opener' on how a production of this scale is put together with endless hours of engineers, mechanics and creative crew.
The biggest take away was that the passion, time, relationships and commitment of the people that work so tight knit to bring this incredible show to a live audience.
A big 'shout out' to Ms Gerladine for making this happen, Ms Vasilakis and the creative students of Westall that participated in the event.
