3/4 SV

Week 5, Term 4

Maths

Chance and Probability

Our students have been involved in many Chance and Probability learning activities over the last fortnight.

Here are some pictures of students creating spinners using a digital tool, called 'Polypad.'

They were required to design a set amount of spinners based on a certain criteria, for example, design a spinner that is most likely to land on blue or design a spinner with an equal chance of landing on blue and green.

Mapping and Location - This week in maths we've been working on mapping and location. Students have been busy creating maps of our classroom and then creating a key to make their map easy for someone to read.

Library

Every week we spend a short amount of time in our library. The students absolutely cherish our time in the library, and it is never long enough to enjoy all the wonderful books it holds. We start by reading our class novel, which is a Paul Jennings classic, ‘UNREAL.’ Then the students have time to peruse the shelves, borrow books, read to themselves or read to a friend. Our honourable Librarians take their jobs very seriously and ensure all books are returned and borrowed.

Inquiry

Throughout this unit students will be exploring how people, places and environments are connected to navigate our world. Topics include learning about the climate and how this connects to the different types of natural vegetation in particular areas around the globe, and creating their own Island taking into consideration where their Island is in relation to the different climate zones to determine what types of vegetation will grow on their Island and how people may live. Below are some photos of students using their hand made sundials to document time throughout the day.

We hope you enjoy a safe and happy long weekend!!!!
