Leader of Year 12 Wellbeing
Mr Peter Robertson
So Year 12 has now officially entered its last ever term of school! The only real game in town for the next two weeks is the Trial HSC Exams (concluding on Monday, 18 August), the final internal Assessment before the “real thing" in October. The Library has been full and the practice responses have been coming in thick and fast, so we wish all of our young men and women the absolute best during this stressful period.
In the meantime, plans are afoot for events leading up to Graduation on September 24. Information has gone out regarding our breakfast and Jamberoo Picnic Day on September 23, a great way for the whole year group to celebrate the end of their schooling journey. Students requesting an official College reference are to fill out the Google form which has been emailed to all of Year 12 and return it by Week 8. Invitations for the formal will go out after the Trials but I have also sent out another Google form to students in advance of this, giving them the opportunity to start thinking about who will be on their table.
Even though the formal is not until November 14, there is a lot of behind the scenes legwork that needs to happen before then in order to ensure it is the best possible night. Generally speaking, there are four students at each table, with space for respective parents. If a parent is unable to attend, another close relative may take their place. Each student must be accompanied by one responsible adult from their family, but no one external to St Aloysius is permitted to attend. We also have a wonderful committee producing our graduation video, which everyone will get the chance to see in the last week.
When students return to class on Tuesday, 19 August, they will embark on their last four to five weeks of revision prior to the HSC exams, which commence shortly after the October school holidays (Thursday, October 16). A document entitled “ Important Dates for Year 12 During Term 3 “ has been published on Compass, outlining all the essential ‘need to know' information, including Work Experience for HSC+ students. There is so much happening that it is critical that all students (and parents/guardians) are fully aware of which dates and events apply to them.
On a final note, I would like to say how proud I am of the way the Year 12 cohort has conducted itself in the approach to the Trials. The year has gone so quickly and we are now in the final stretch - the ‘beginning of the end‘. I am looking forward to some great exam results, followed by a happy, positive and successful finish to thirteen years of education. Thank you for your ongoing support.
