Term 3

Welcome back to what is sure to be a very busy Term 3. All students have returned full of energy and excitement which is wonderful. This term is a little bit shorter, being 9 weeks in length, but there are many events already planned so it is sure to be jam packed. Term 3 is often a time where we can often see a lot of growth in the students so it is important that we continue to have high expectations of the students both socially and academically. We look forward to sharing student achievements and special events throughout the term both at assemblies and in the weekly newsletter.

NAIDOC Week Activities

NAIDOC week was officially celebrated during the school holidays from Sunday 6th - Sunday 13th July. Several of our students had artwork displayed at the Watergardens shopping centre during this time, which I was fortunate enough to visit and see their paintings, which were fantastic.

We also had a whole school cultural performance and information session called Didgeridoo Beats and Culture on Tuesday, presented by Ganga Giri from First Nations Incursions. It was an extremely informative and entertaining session enjoyed by all students and staff. The students listened to cultural stories as well as being entertained by Ganga Giri's exceptional talents on the didgeridoo.

Today all classes participated in an information session about the significance of NAIDOC week before using a template of a boomerang to draft a design. This design will then be transferred to a wooden boomerang for all students next week. These were very kindly sourced and donated by one of our parents, Brett Barnett - a big thank you to Brett for providing enough boomerangs for all the students in the school. We look forward to seeing the completed designs next week.
