Music News

It’s our Concert Production Term! All year levels will continue learning and rehearsing their concert dances and songs, gradually building up to their performances. The Green Show will be on Monday, 8 September and the Purple Show will be Tuesday, 9 September. You will receive confirmation of which night your child/children will be performing (most families should know already), along with your information on how to purchase tickets within the first few weeks of the term.
Our chief choreographers from the Kim Annette Dance Academy, will continue sessions with each year throughout the term. These sessions will be held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and will also be rehearsed as part of their Music and Performing Arts classes during the week. Most of the Music lessons this term will be dedicated to concert rehearsals and practise, although students will still be revising many musical elements and other important concepts using applications such as Staff Wars, Rhythm Dictation and GarageBand.
The students have been busy in their Art lessons preparing their concert t-shirts for the show and we ask that parents ensure their child/children have a pair of either black leggings or long pants to wear for the night of the performance. There will be more information on costume requirements closer to the performances.
The Junior and Senior Choirs will continue their regular weekly rehearsals and are preparing for the concert songs they will be performing, along with several other performances at our weekly assemblies.
I would also like to mention what a great success our ‘World Music Day’ mini concerts on the last day of Term 2 were. All the students who performed are to be congratulated on their efforts, dedication, and talents. It was wonderful to have both performances in front of packed-out Wentworth Building audiences. The feedback from our ‘World Music Day’ mini concerts has been amazing and we hope to organise a similar event next year.
For now though, we look forward to our concert production, ‘It’s Scientrific!’ and can’t wait for the shows to begin!
CONCERT UPDATE:
If you haven’t already seen the flyers around the school, our whole school concert titled ‘It’s Scientrific!’ will be held over 2 nights:
Performance 1 – Green Show: Monday, 8 September, 7:00pm
Performance 2 – Purple Show: Tuesday, 9 September, 7:00pm
The performances will be held next door at the Rowville Performing Arts Centre, and we have divided our students into two separated performance groups to ensure there are enough tickets available for parents and guardians.
Tickets will be on sale tomorrow, Tuesday, 29 July at 10:00 am.
Stay tuned for more concert updates on Compass, in newsletters, notices home and at assemblies. We are super-excited to be holding our second whole school concert production here at Park Ridge in recent times.
Thanks,
Graeme Stewart
