With gloves on and rubbish bags in hand, students from Mr Dodd Year 7 Humanities class took to the school grounds and collected litter from the gardens, and pathways. Students demonstrated incredible teamwork and community spirit. The initiative not only made a visible difference to the school environment, but also gave students a sense of pride and responsibility.
Well done to all the students who took part, your efforts are helping to create a cleaner future for everyone!
On Thursday 24 April 2025, our Senior Leaders led the School’s ANZAC Day Service. As in years past and in years to come we recognise the service men and women who have served and who continue to serve in our Armed Forces.
A highlight of the event was the commemorative address delivered by Warrant Officer Class 2 Darren Tomlin, who spoke with heartfelt sincerity to our students. He painted a powerful picture of the young Australians who served highlighting their bravery, sacrifice, and the values they lived by: mateship, endurance, sacrifice, and courage.
His speech included a moving story about a member of our staff’s family, and how her relatives set off to serve in both World War I and World War II. These men exemplified the ANZAC spirit through their bravery, national pride, and willingness to fight for peace.
Our student leaders continued the service by acknowledging how school assemblies like these play a vital role in preserving the legacy of those who served and sacrificed. These commemorations bring our military history to the heart of our national identity, promoting courage, mateship, and resilience, values we can all strive to embody.
It was also incredibly moving to see so many of The Gap students participate in the local ANZAC Day march, while our leaders spoke with respect for themselves and our Anzac Hero’s. Whilst our School Choir sung ‘Four Hundred Seasons’ with heartfelt harmony that captivated everyone listening. A solemn silence fell over the crown, as Issak Judd played the last post.
Lest We Forget.
