Principal's News

Dear SMCM Community, Wominjeka!
Happy Easter and Welcome to Term 2!
Lord Jesus,
We are Easter people and Alleluia is our song.
Help us to live our Easter joy in all that we do and say.
We make this prayer through Christ our Lord.
I hope you all enjoyed a refreshing break from the usual routines of school uniforms and packed lunches! Term 2 brings a strong focus on assessment and reporting, as we work to communicate student progress clearly with families and set meaningful learning goals.
Key dates for the term are included in today’s newsletter—please make a note of these in your diary. To stay informed throughout the term, ensure your notifications are turned on in the Audiri App. We’re looking forward to another productive and engaging term ahead!
It was with great sadness that we heard the news of the passing of our Holy Father, Pope Francis just after Easter. As the leader of our global Catholic Church, Pope Francis guided us with humility, compassion, and a profound love for those on the margins. His deep commitment to mercy, peace, and care for God’s creation touched the hearts of people around the world. At SMCM, we remember his gentle words and steadfast encouragement to live out the Gospel in our everyday actions.
As we mourn his passing, we turn our hearts to prayer for the College of Cardinals, who will soon gather in conclave to discern and elect our new pope. We ask the Holy Spirit to guide them with wisdom and unity, so that the Church may continue to be a light of hope in the world.
Prep 2026 Enrolments
Our enrolment process for Prep 2026 is well underway across the Parish. In 2026 we will once again have four Prep classes. In the coming weeks we will meet with new families to our school and offers of enrolment will be made in early June.
Sibling places for 2026 will be offered at the end of May. Sibling interviews will be held in Term 3. With more and more applications for new families coming in each day we do not want any current families to miss out on a place. If you have a sibling starting school in 2026 please ensure your enrolment form is completed this week!
Traffic Management Update
Over the school holidays, the council installed new traffic management signs at the corner of Farmhouse Boulevard and Redding Rise. These signs indicate left turns only during school drop-off and pick-up times.
This change is designed to improve traffic flow along Farmhouse Boulevard, making it easier and quicker for families to access the Kiss & Go zones while helping to prevent double parking.
Please be aware that the council actively monitors this area and may issue fines for non-compliance. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our school community safe.
This week, we farewell Learning Support Officer, Tonina Siriani as she begins a new chapter in her career at St Mary’s in Greensborough.
Tonina has been a valued member of the SMCM community for the past nine years. Throughout her time with us, she has shown care and dedication to our students, supporting their academic growth, spiritual development, and overall wellbeing.
We thank Tonina for her contributions to our school and wish her every success and happiness in her new role.
Congratulations to Alex (Pilgrims Homegroup) and Tom (Trust Homegroup) who competed at the State Swimming Championships today. Alex placed 2nd in Butterfly and 3rd in Breastroke for his age group. Tom placed 1st in Freestyle and Breastroke for his group. Both boys should be incredibly proud of their achivements and the way they have represented our school and their families!
As we begin this new term, may it be a time of learning, growth, and shared success within our school community.
