Foundation
Our Foundation students have had a fun and busy Term 2, with lots of activities and new learning occurring.
Literacy
In Literacy, we have continued to learn new sounds. We have noticed students including these new sounds when reading and writing new words.
In Writing, we have focused a lot on how to write sentences and practiced our letter formation. Foundation students are slowly becoming experts at correctly using capital letters, full stops and finger spaces, as well as applying already learnt sounds when sounding out words.
Numeracy
In Numeracy, we have been looking at patterns and place value with bundles of popsicle sticks. Students have enjoyed learning about the different patterns we can create (AB, ABC, ABB etc) using hands-on materials such as blocks and then also writing on tables with whiteboard markers to draw their own pattern (how exciting to draw on tables!). They have also strengthened their understanding of place value through the use of popsicle sticks and matching activities.
Cross Country
On Thursday 1st May we had our whole school cross country. Students got to dress in their house colours and run a lap around the school. Foundation students thoroughly enjoyed running around and cheering on for others, what great sportsmanship! Each and every student was rewarded with a ribbon for their outstanding effort.
Mother's Day
On Thursday 8th May, we held our Mother’s Day Open Morning and stall. Mums, dads, and special guests were invited to spend the morning experiencing a day in the life of their child. It was wonderful to see everyone who came along and joined in the activities.
A big thank you to all who attended, and a special thanks to those who supported students who didn’t have a special someone in the classroom that morning. Our students absolutely loved having you in their classroom and sharing their school world with you.
