Positive Environment
As we journey through another busy and rewarding term, it's a great time to pause and reflect on the wonderful things happening across our school. This newsletter is a celebration of our students’ efforts, the dedication of our staff, and the strong sense of community that makes Wyndham Central College such a special place to learn and grow. Whether it’s through the classroom, on the sports field, in the arts, or through leadership and wellbeing initiatives—our students continue to impress and inspire.
Thank you for your ongoing support, and we hope you enjoy catching up on the highlights from the past few weeks.
Thank You to Foodbank – Supporting Our School Community
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Foodbank Victoria for their ongoing support of our school community. Through their generous provision of grocery vouchers, Foodbank has helped many of our families access essential food items during times of need. Their support makes a meaningful difference in the lives of our students and their families, and we are truly grateful for their partnership. It’s community connections like these that strengthen our school and ensure every student feels supported and cared for.
Food Bank Family cooking program
We’re thrilled to announce that Afterschool Family Cooking Classes will be running in Term 3!
This free 4-week program kicks off on Tuesday, 29th July in our school’s cooking rooms. Each week, families will work together to create a tasty meal and take home a recipe box filled with extra ideas to try at home. Translated recipes will also be available for families who need them.
Places are limited, and we ask that a parent/guardian attend with their child or children and commit to all four sessions.
If you’re interested, please contact me to register your name and details. I’ll be in touch in the final week of term to confirm your spot.
Got questions? Just ask! We can’t wait to cook with you!
Year 7–9 Cross Country Success
A huge thank you to all staff who contributed to the smooth running of our Year 7–9 Cross Country event. We were fortunate with perfect weather, adding to the overall success of the day. Special thanks go to Nicole Smith and Nicole Atkinson for their tireless support throughout the entire event, as well as to Ms Taylor, Mr Rowe, our Year Level Leaders, Tutor Teachers, and Classroom Teachers for their assistance in guiding students to and from the park.
Our students represented the school with maturity and positivity, embracing the opportunity to get outdoors, be active, and enjoy some sunshine. While the number of competitive runners was down slightly this year, the relaxed and inclusive atmosphere encouraged participation in many forms—whether it was running, walking with friends, or supporting others from the sidelines.
Congratulations to all students who placed First, Second, and Third

Year 8 Active Girls Program – Supporting Female Participation in Sport
On Monday 5th of May during Sessions 5 & 6, our Year 8 students took part in an exciting program focused on increasing engagement in physical activity. This initiative began when Wyndham City Council approached our school last year with the goal of digging deeper into why girls often disengage from sport and how we can work together to better support their participation.
Over time, the program grew to include key partners such as Wyndham City Council, ACHPER, Active Schools, and Change Our Game. While the original focus was on girls, we recognised the value in creating a parallel experience for boys to ensure all students had the opportunity to engage in meaningful physical activity.
The pilot aimed to explore the challenges girls face in staying involved in sport and to gather insights that can shape more inclusive, supportive programs moving forward. Students began the session by assembling on the basketball courts before splitting into boys’ and girls’ groups for their respective activities.
Girls Program
The girls took part in a range of discussions and practical activities designed to empower them, build confidence, and break down barriers to physical participation. These sessions were supported by representatives from our program partners and led with a strong focus on voice, choice, and wellbeing. There will be follow up programs for the girls.
Boys Program Activities
The boys rotated through a variety of high-energy activities including:
It was fantastic to see so many students engaging positively, having fun, and reflecting on the role of physical activity in their everyday lives. We look forward to building on the outcomes of this pilot as we continue to promote inclusive sport and wellbeing programs across the school.
Thanks to Reclink
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Reclink for their incredible support in providing one of our students with a bike. The bike came with gloves, helmet, lock and bell for the student.
This generous gesture will make a real difference—giving the student reliable transport to attend VET and access opportunities outside of school that were previously out of reach. It’s a powerful reminder of the impact community partnerships can have on the lives of our young people.
Thank you, Reclink, for helping remove barriers and supporting our students to thrive.
Year 8 Active Girls Program Workshop Day 2:
The year 8 girls involved in the Active Girls program participated in a special follow-up session where they explored the impact of their involvement through data presentations and reflective workshops. The session highlighted the positive shifts in confidence, physical activity levels, and peer connections. Small group workshops allowed the girls to dive deeper into their experiences, share insights, and shape ideas for future initiatives. We’re now looking for enthusiastic students to volunteer and join the Active Girls Project Group—a student-led team that will help design and promote inclusive, empowering opportunities for girls across the school. Thanks to the students who signed up and we are looking forward to working with you.
International Yoga Day
On Friday 20th of June we celebrate International Yoga Day, a global recognition of the ancient practice that promotes unity of mind, body, and spirit. Yoga offers a powerful way to support mental wellbeing, reduce stress, and build strength and flexibility—both physically and emotionally. Students across the school had the opportunity to try yoga

Primary School Cup: Referees
A huge thank you to the wonderful group of students who volunteered their time and skills to umpire at the recent Primary School Soccer Competition. Your leadership, confidence, and fairness on the field was truly impressive, and you represented our school with pride and professionalism.
Although the day finished early, you helped the day run smoothly, but you also played a key role in creating a positive and supportive environment for the younger players. It was fantastic to see students stepping up, showing responsibility, and being such great role models.
Well done – we’re proud of your efforts and appreciate your contribution to a successful day!
🌟 Whole-School Learning Focus – Term 2 Highlights 🌟
This term, our school has embraced a series of meaningful, inclusive, and forward-thinking lessons that reflect the diverse values and needs of our community. Across year levels, students have engaged in targeted sessions exploring:

🏐 A Huge Thank You to Our Amazing Student Volleyball Umpire Volunteers! 🙌
On Wednesday 25th June, 31 of our incredible students proudly represented our school by volunteering at the Primary School Volleyball event run by Volleyball Victoria. This is the third time we have supported this event, and the students have proved themselves very capable!
They took on a range of important roles including umpiring, scoring, data entry, running, and even presenting medals to the winning teams. Their efforts ensured the event ran smoothly and professionally, and their positive attitudes and leadership did not go unnoticed.
Volleyball Victoria and the participating schools were extremely impressed with their contributions — a true credit to our school community.
Thank you to each and every student who gave their time and energy to support such a fantastic day. We are so proud of you! 💛💙
